Cody Hamrick, OTR/L, LCSWA
Cody is a North Carolina LCSWA at Lifescapes Counseling Associates, PLLC in Apex, NC. He works with adolescents and adults as they navigate life’s transitions, challenges, and opportunities for growth. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from UNC Greensboro, his Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from Winston-Salem State University, and his Master of Social Work degree from UNC Charlotte.
Before becoming a psychotherapist, Cody spent 10 years working as a pediatric occupational therapist in early intervention, school-based, and clinic-based settings. This experience gave him a unique understanding of the nervous system, development, behavior, and the ways our environments can influence our mental health. He brings this perspective into his work with college students, recognizing that mental health is influenced not only by what happens internally, but also by relationships, routines, expectations, and the environments in which we live and learn.
Cody enjoys working with college students who may be navigating anxiety, depression, OCD, ADHD, autism and other neurodivergent experiences, identity development, relationship challenges, emotional regulation, or the transition toward greater independence. He understands that college can be an exciting time of new experiences while also bringing pressure, uncertainty, and the challenge of figuring out who you are and what you want your life to look like.
Cody grounds his work in a person-centered approach where clients are accepted, respected, and encouraged to be themselves. He uses a blend of cognitive-behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, and solution-focused strategies to help clients better understand themselves, build practical skills, navigate challenges, and move toward their goals. He is honored to work with individuals in the LGBTQIA+ community, autistic individuals, and individuals with ADHD.
Outside of the therapy room, Cody enjoys reading, spending time outdoors, being with his family, and recharging in quiet moments.
