Life is rough sometimes, and it’s so easy to feel stuck, wondering where life is going. My goal is to help you find new perspectives and new ways of looking at any situation, so that you can approach life with confidence and authenticity. Along with bringing a multicultural perspective to therapy as a therapist of color, I utilize an integrative approach of Narrative and Cognitive Behavioral Therapies, and other modalities that fit your unique life journey. I find the greatest enjoyment in working with adults, couples, and adolescents from culturally diverse backgrounds. Areas of concern that I have extensive experience in includes, anxiety, burnout, depression, interpersonal/ relationship difficulties, racial stress and trauma, general school-work-life balance stress, helping clients cultivate a healthy relationship with physical fitness, as well as those simply seeking a bit more fulfillment or life satisfaction. I also work diligently in conducting psychological assessments and ADHD evaluations. Of special interest, my research on the psychological impact of code-switching behavior in African-Americans allows me a unique perspective on how to help professionals of color learn to cope with stress. Coupled with my passion for social justice, advocacy and the role they play in mental health, my goal is to help break the stigma of mental health in communities of color. If you feel we may be a good fit, or desire to learn more about my specialties, experience & approaches to therapy, please do not hesitate to contact me. I look forward to speaking with you!

My training in community mental health settings was an incredible experience as I worked with people battling depression, anxiety, PTSD, and trauma. I have also worked with clients convicted of sexually abusive behaviors. However, I am quite versatile, and I have worked with people needing help in many areas of their lives. I am a psychodynamically trained psychologist. I also believe in using an integrated approach when helping someone to understand the how and why of what got them to this point in their life. I have found that an integrative approach to therapy works best. If a client has a non-Western approach to coping with life issues, that can be integrated into the treatment. I adapt my approach to what is best suited for you the client. It is my goal to build a therapeutic relationship with you by creating a safe and healing environment where you feel safe to explore your thoughts, feelings, and emotions. I have worked with many diverse populations from people who practice Native American spirituality, to people with a Yogic flavor to their approaches to life, to working with those in underserved communities. I have worked with people from all cultural backgrounds. I also have worked with people with diverse sexual orientations. I am a therapist at Octave, a behavioral health practice creating a new standard for mental health care that’s both high-quality and accessible. In helping people, I lean toward a strengths-based, attachment, and systems approach. I strongly believe that a significant change in one person can impact the entire system. I also believe that a holistic, mindfulness and cognitive approach coupled with behavioral changes is effective for many clients. Additionally, I interweave my trauma-informed background to support clients through their presenting concerns. It's my strong belief, however that each individual is a unique being. I thoroughly enjoy partnering with my clients throughout the therapeutic process while addressing their objectives for therapy. Ultimately, I believe in the power of connection. The relationships we have with others influence our health, thoughts, feelings, or stories we tell about ourselves. I am passionate about cultivating a healing connection to help individuals perceive their greatest selves so they know that they matter. I am a therapist at Octave, a behavioral health practice creating a new standard for mental health care that’s both high-quality and accessible. People I work with often are starting out in therapy or interested in moving towards trauma work. If you're interested in learning how to slow it down, use mindfulness, or feel more connected to your body, I utilize narrative and somatic techniques to help people reclaim their peace, energy, and rest. As an Asian-Mexican-American psychotherapist, I enjoy helping people learn more about connecting to ancestry, spirituality, community healing and peer support resources that remind us we are all connected. When I'm not doing therapy I love going to the beach, writing, camping/hiking/backpacking, and traveling.

Are you a bystander in your own life? Living day to day, going through the motions, doing the things you do because its what you are “supposed” to do? Never questioning why. Do you feel trapped in your own life? Insignificant in your world. Do your relationships lack depth and connection? Imagine having clarity; having inner calm; having a sense of purpose. These are things that can give life meaning and fulfillment. Are you ready to put it all on the table and make sense of things? To find confidence through congruence between who you want to be and who you are. Are you ready to embrace yourself and live an authentic life full of purpose and connection? My focus in therapy is on depth work. Through a client centered, relational approach I aim to support you in digging deep, asking the challenging questions and learning who you are while becoming who you are meant to be. With a deeper acceptance and love for yourself you will increase your ability and willingness to engage and connect with others in more meaningful ways. And through these intentional connections you can cultivate a narrative for your life that affirms your values and purpose.

Hi there! I work with individuals who feel overwhelmed by anxiety, weighed down by depression, or are struggling with lingering effects of trauma. Some may feel stuck in negative thought patterns, disconnected from themselves and others, or unsure how to break free from cycles of self-doubt and fear. Many of my clients come to therapy wanting to develop skills to navigate life's challenges, build self-esteem, foster healthier relationships, and heal. Most of my work has been with young adults navigating life stressors. I foster inclusivity and take an integrative approach to therapy in order to tailor the therapy process to best suit you. I understand the next step can seem daunting. Feel free to reach out, and we can take that next step together. Whether you're seeking relief from overwhelming emotions or looking to break free from past trauma, I’m here to support you on your journey to healing, resiliency, and self-discovery.

I approach therapy from an integrative standpoint, using evidence-based therapy modalities that best suit the individuals, couples, or groups with whom I am working. I find the exploratory techniques espoused in Psychodynamic models to be core to and underpinning a great deal of my practice. Psychodynamic work, for me, provides a solid foundation of knowledge on which to base my understanding of my client, and it is the basis from which I tailor subsequent interventions, including the use of alternate models. As needed - and very much also a primary model of therapy I will default to - is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. The affording of structure, the ease of understanding of interventions, and the strong evidence-based support for this model make integrating it into the work an almost seamless task. As needed I also use Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, and, for trauma, I also employ the techniques of Cognitive Processing Therapy. As needed, I pull from both Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Dialectical Behavior Therapy. I am a therapist at Octave, a behavioral health practice creating a new standard for mental health care that’s both high-quality and accessible. Do you find yourself having strong emotional responses to past events? Are you struggling to “Let go” or “Move on” from painful experiences? A typical Enduring Strength Counseling client is someone between the ages of 20-35, possibly a member of the military community, who answered yes to the questions above and is ready to begin their mental health journey but do not want to deal with the constraints and limitations of insurance companies. There is nothing worse than feeling like you have become a disappointment to your family. That no matter how hard you try to navigate college, nothing you do will ever be good enough. Are you looking for a way to help your family understand YOUR struggles? To validate and support you, instead of saying, "it's just a phase, it will pass" or "Everyone has a hard time, you just need to try harder" or worse, "When I was your age I went through the same thing". I believe no one knows you better than you know yourself- even your family-and I want to help you express your needs in a way your family will hear, understand and be able to support you.

Hi I'm Maddi and I'd love to help you figure out college and all this adulting stuff. Let's face it, adulting is tough. It can feel so overwhelming trying to balance all the things like school, family, friends, errands, chores, work, self-care... Oh ya, and don't forget to make time to eat, sleep, call your mom, and figure out your future. (No pressure or anything!!) I know what it's like to feel like you have to put on a brave face for everyone and pretend that you're doing OK, while deep inside you are freaking out and on the verge of a breakdown. (It's fine, I'm fine, everything's fine...) I know what it's like to feel like you spend all your free time overthinking things, replaying interactions, and worrying that someone is mad at you. (Spoiler alert, they're not!) I want to help you do more than just survive college! Let's work together to help you break free from the self-doubt, stress, and overthinking that keeps you up at night and leaves you feeling exhausted and stuck at the end of the day. Together we can talk through things to make sense of them and find realistic solutions. This way you can leave therapy with an understanding of what's going on, and what you can do to make it better. We got this!! Reach out today and let's schedule a free phone consultation so we can see if I'm the right therapist for you. You can reach me by email or text message.

Monique Dozier, LCSW is a licensed therapist and founder of Journey to Genesis Mental Health Services. She has worked as a social worker for over a decade, and after years of supporting clients at various hospitals and nonprofits is redirecting her talent and experience to where her passion truly resides: her own community. She directly relates to the first-hand struggles of Black women, and especially Black mothers, face every day. As a mother to 2 vibrant, empowered girls, she also understands how necessary it is to build ourselves up higher than the world could ever tear us down. Monique created Journey to Genesis as a haven for the women tired of explaining themselves, the women tired of code-switching, and most importantly, the women tired of fighting to be heard.
