As a clinical psychologist, I assist clients to address issues that are difficult to confront alone. I encourage self-reflection, help clients gain a clearer understanding of their life experiences and bring awareness to patterns of relating that are interfering with living a satisfying life. My orientation is primarily psychodynamic; it promotes self-exploration and gaining insight, along with productive behavior change. I take an active and engaged role with my clients by asking questions and offering ideas. I approach therapy as a collaborative process with the intention of reducing suffering, increasing self-understanding, and cultivating deeper and more compassionate relationships. I specialize in addressing chronic trauma, depression, anxiety, life transitions, loss, and relationship difficulties.

College can feel like a mix of excitement and pressure all at once. Between academics, relationships, figuring out who you are, and trying to keep up with everything, it’s really easy to feel overwhelmed, anxious, or like you’re just barely holding it together. In therapy, I try to create a space where you don’t have to have it all figured out. We slow things down, make sense of what’s going on, and work together to find ways to feel more grounded and more like yourself again. I really believe people already have strengths in them, even if it doesn’t feel accessible in the moment. My job is to help you reconnect with those strengths and figure out how to use them in real life, especially during stressful or confusing seasons. I work with college students and adults navigating anxiety, depression, relationship stress, trauma, and big life transitions. I use approaches like CBT, mindfulness, and body-based (somatic) work to help you understand what you’re feeling and actually shift it in a practical, supportive way. My fee for a 50-minute session is $180. I also offer a limited number of sliding scale spots ($90–$100) to help make therapy more accessible.

I am a psychotherapist with 10+ years of experience providing individual therapy for adults and adolescents. I have training in most major therapeutic modalities (CBT, DBT, SFBT, trauma-informed treatment, etc.) and my clinical focus is on in-depth psychoanalytic therapy. People come to work with me when there is a problem—a symptom, a conflict, a traumatic experience—that interferes with their satisfaction in life. Common issues include anxiety, depression, self-doubt, and difficulty with love and sexuality. Psychoanalytic work aims at addressing the real causes of these problems, and can result in new ways of relating to yourself. Therapy begins with an invitation to speak freely. It is a unique opportunity to hear what our struggles are trying to say. The challenge of therapy is that there are no ready-made answers, but I find that with the right therapeutic environment, everyone can figure out what to do with their obstacles on their path. I look forward to speaking with you about working together. Feel free to get in touch by email or schedule a consultation on my helloalma.com profile. I am currently accepting new patients for telehealth and in-person sessions at my office in Brookline, and can provide services in both English and Mandarin. 我會使用中文進行心理治療, 歡迎與我聯繫!

Often, a significant source of suffering lies in thoughts and feelings that exist outside of our awareness and have not yet been able to find full expression. Psychotherapy offers the unusual opportunity to be listened to deeply and to learn to listen to ourselves in new ways. Exploring and developing insight into your inner life can lead to change—feeling better about yourself, shifting seemingly intractable patterns that have kept you stuck, and developing a greater sense of agency and fulfillment in your life. My practice provides a safe setting in which this exploration can unfold. I'll work collaboratively with you to help you make sense of distressing feelings and thoughts, gain insight into your experiences, and develop a more authentic relationship to yourself and to the world. I have advanced training in psychodynamic psychotherapy, and my work is influenced by psychoanalytic and trauma-informed approaches. I see adults and specialize in a range of issues, including anxiety, depression, complex trauma, and relationship difficulties. We live in a stressful world where everyone is struggling. The current global crisis compiled with our personal life experiences have created a sense of overwhelm, burnout, isolation and disconnection. And our life journeys are full of crisis, loss, grief, and trauma. These experiences activate fear, alter patterns of behavior, create limitations in perception, relationship issues, low self-esteem, addictions, negative thought patterns and a multitude of mental and physical health symptoms. An accumulation of these unprocessed emotions and unresolved traumas can weaken the spirit, affecting one’s core vitality for life. Kellyann is nurturing by nature and creates a safe and compassionate environment where trust is easily built within the therapeutic relationship, so that healing can take place. Kellyann is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor who employs a holistic and spiritual approach to healing. She works with her clients to dissolve layers of trauma, reprogram beliefs, connect to their emotions in healthy ways, and empowers people to achieve whatever it is they are seeking. She works with her clients to search for the stuck points and old wounds that may be getting in the way of finding the happiness they desire and deserve. Kellyann’s counseling sessions are built on a holistic model where she applies multiple approaches based on what a client wants and needs. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is used to support clients with managing their symptoms in healthy ways. Dialectical Behavior Therapy is used to assist clients with learning how to process the emotions they find intolerable. Psychoanalysis allows Kellyann to look for healing at the root cause. Internal Family Systems teaches an individual what they may need and identify ways to receive it. Mindfulness allows clients to accept their truth even when what have happened to them may have been extremely wrong and unfair and Trauma Processing allows for clients to create a healthy connection to their experiences through a narrative. Spirituality invites the opportunity to see a possibility for hope even one is nowhere in sight. Kellyann works with people who are struggling with a variety of mental health problems as well as clients seeking life skills and tools for coping in our stressful world. She offers a free 15-minute phone consult to in order to determine whether we are a good fit prior to scheduling the first session.

As a therapist, I aim to be as authentic, supportive, and direct as possible; helping you to work on the obstacles standing in the way of reaching your goals. Sometimes this simply means experiencing an accepting and validating environment otherwise unavailable. Alternatively, this may consist of having an emotionally safe space to communicate with your partner or family. My approach depends on your goals for our work together and what degree of challenge you feel ready for. Conflict or connection, I am here to support you. Feedback I've received from clients typically includes comments along the lines of, "You aren't the type of therapist who just sits back and listens for an hour, but who gets me to consider things I hadn't thought of, helped me to figure myself out- what I really want, need, and how to deal". I truly enjoy helping my clients to gain a better understanding of themselves, identifying and building their strengths, and supporting them through difficult times. You may perceive an upsetting event as a minute issue or a monstrous crisis based on how others view it. My perspective however, rests on the impact and significance an experience holds for you. Life is challenging, especially when you are attempting to juggle school, work, relationships and unexpected life events. Reach out. A simple talk will help you determine if I can be of support.
