Therapists for college students near 27707
I enjoy living in the corners and at the fringes of what stereotypical therapy might look like. It is important to me that those who are outcasts, quirky, different, neurodivergent, LGBTQ+, and the marginalized feel heard. When we work together, I want you to feel like you matter (because you do). If you like the utilization of tarot and oracle cards, we can incorporate that. If you need resources on affirming places to practice spirituality, we can look at those. If you want to talk about kink communities and how to get involved with them, we can find them. Whatever works for you works for me, and I want to help you figure that out.
I am glad you are here. Looking for a therapist who is a good fit can feel overwhelming and frustrating. Taking this first step is courageous and I am here to help! If you are struggling with the psychological and emotional impact of trauma, anxiety or depression, or living as a highly sensitive person in a world that may feel harsh, therapy can help you heal and create the meaningful, fulfilling life you long for. Together, we can walk the path to finding your health and wholeness. Are you ready? I invite you to schedule a 20 minute phone consultation at (561) 533-0948 to explore what you need and how I may be able to help.
I believe that all people are capable of change and have the internal capacity to shift unhealthy patterns in their lives. Sometimes, we need a little help because we get "stuck" in old patterns that have been well honed through past hurts or traumatic events and cannot seem to find a new path forward. This is not through a lack of desire of wanting it to be different, but due to the impact that these difficult and painful life events have had on the part of our brain that controls how we react to these stressors. When we experience deep pain-- through relationships, situations, or trauma--these experiences are stored deeply in the subcortical area of the brain. This pain remains there, unprocessed, and can cause disruptions in day to day life. This can look like over-reactions to noise/stress due to growing up in a chaotic environment, difficulty asserting yourself with heart palpitations and chest tightness due to that "bad boss" that berated you, stomach pain every time you drive by your ex's neighborhood despite the fact that you have not dated in years, or overwhelming grief each year when the anniversary of a significant loss occurs. While traditional talk therapy can be helpful, it is not able to access the deeper, subcortical areas of the brain. I utilize Brainspotting as a therapeutic technique, to support the brain's self scanning and self-healing capacity. Brainspotting enables you to access these stored experiences and integrate them in a more functional way. By utilizing an eye position relevant to the issue you are wanting to address, and a "felt sense" of this issue in the body, deep brain processing is able to occur. This bypasses the conscious, "thinking" part of the brain, and leads to lasting change. I also utilize a blend of other approaches including cognitive behavior therapy, mindfulness, directive and non-directive play therapy and draw from attachment based and neuroscience supported interventions in my work. Lisa Peaty received her Masters in Social work from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She has over 20 years of clinical social work experience, working with children, adults, and families and has spent the past 15 years practicing as a therapist in the Winston-Salem community. When not at work, she enjoys spending time with her family, gardening, baking, exercising and reading.
Healing happens when we feel safe enough to show up exactly as we are. All parts of you are welcome here. I’m not here to change you or fix you. I don’t think you are “broken” or that there's anything "wrong" with you. Together we'll create an accepting + compassionate environment, with respect for your intuition + body's wisdom underlying all that we do. I’m trauma + social justice-informed and view therapy through an intersectional lens (mind, body, environment, culture). During our time together, we’ll likely look at environmental factors (interpersonal, economic, oppression) that create individual/collective stress and trauma. I value equity, consent and boundaries in the therapeutic relationship and strive to create a space that is safe, non-judgmental and accepting. My approach is collaborative + holistic, centering around values of empathy, connection and deep listening. I’m Internal Family Systems-informed and incorporate somatic + mindfulness-based approaches into sessions. I provide an Autism-affirming perspective in therapy and believe Autism is a genetically-based neurotype, not a medical disorder. "I understand being autistic to be a cultural identity and recognize autistic people as experts on their own culture." (quote from Trauma Geek). Please visit my website for more information. I work with young adults (18-30) on anxiety, social anxiety, and self esteem. Does this describe you? You are the lonely one; you feel unseen. You feel deeply, and your emotions are intense. You are jealous of others who find it easy to connect, and you want what they have. When you seek connection, people disappoint you with their lack of authenticity. You love, but don’t know how to be loved. You once thought a romantic relationship or best friend would be the solution; you would feel whole. But you did not feel complete, and happiness started to feel out of reach. Understanding in your relationships feels foreign. Despite your frustration, you are committed to finding understanding, being valued, and connecting with others. You want to shine and thrive. I know your inner world's importance. I am familiar with the challenge of discovering how to fit in the social world. Can you imagine yourself confidently connecting with others? Can you imagine being valued and heard? Together, we will find your confidence. We will explore fears, hang-ups, and insecurities together. Take the first step towards the confidence and connection you want! At Elevate and Evolve Therapy, I strive to create a virtual therapeutic space where clients feel seen, respected, and understood, and where healing is approached collaboratively without judgment. I understand how experiences such as trauma, chronic stress, neurodivergence, and life transitions can shape the way you see yourself, relate to others, and move through the world. The therapy space with Elevate and Evolve honors your experiences while helping you build a path forward. You don't need to become a different person to feel better.
I believe everyone deserves a space to process, heal, and experience empathy and validation. Good outcomes in therapy can be expected if you feel the therapist genuinely cares and has your best interest in heart and mind. Your therapist must also have skill, knowledge, and experience with clinically proven therapy techniques. I provide both to you as my client. I offer an integrated approach that includes EMDR, person-centered, CBT, DBT skills, and trauma focused treatment; however, our time together is not limited to these theories of practice. Together, we can explore the barriers that are keeping you from living the life you want.

HI there, I'm Kristen, I've been working in mental health and addictions recovery for over 20 years. I enjoy working with people who are going through a transition, change, need extra support, or are dealing with on-going struggles. Some areas I specialize in include managing symptoms of depression, anxiety, anger, bi-polar, past trauma, parenting struggles, pregnancy and postpartum mood disorders, relationship issues, coping with a loved one's mental health or addiction, and addictions recovery. My work focuses on paying attention to our current thoughts, emotions, body sensations, and patterns, questioning or challenging our unhelpful thinking and behaviors, and shifting focus to what is already working in our lives. Teaching and practicing coping skills, mindfulness, and relaxations skills have been a useful part of my practice. my style is pretty informal and relaxed, and I love working with college students
College should be challenging, not crushing. Meru Health helps you find balance, clarity, and confidence so you can actually enjoy this chapter of your life. When achievement becomes a weight you can't carry When you need more than campus counseling can provide When homesickness feels like heartbreak When anxiety steals experiences you should be having When exhaustion becomes your identity. When the future feels like a storm cloud When old wounds won't heal on their own More support than weekly therapy alone Patients connect with a dedicated therapist and receive daily support between sessions, not just once a week. This ensures continuity through the unpredictable emotional shifts that follow major change.
Hi, I'm Dr. J'haria Dallas, and I'm so glad you're here. College can be an exciting and transformative time, but it can also feel overwhelming. Whether you're navigating academic stress, anxiety, relationship challenges, family expectations, career uncertainty, burnout, or major life transitions, you don't have to face it alone. Seeking support is a courageous step, and by being here, you're already investing in yourself and your well-being. My approach to counseling is warm, collaborative, and down-to-earth. I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) to help students better understand the thoughts, emotions, and patterns that may be holding them back while also identifying the strengths and resources they already possess. Together, we'll explore what's beneath the surface, develop practical coping strategies, and create meaningful goals that align with the life you want to build. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with a Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision from the University of Georgia. Throughout my work as a counselor, educator, and supervisor, I have had the privilege of supporting individuals through some of life's most challenging and uncertain moments. These experiences have reinforced my belief in the power of having a supportive space where you can be authentic, reflect, and grow. I work with college students and young adults who are seeking greater confidence, balance, self-understanding, and connection. My goal is to create a space where you feel heard, valued, and empowered to navigate challenges while building the skills needed to thrive both personally and academically. More than anything, I believe in your ability to grow through adversity, discover your strengths, and create meaningful change. You don't have to have everything figured out to begin. Wherever you are in your journey, I'd be honored to walk alongside you.
I offer virtual therapy to clients located anywhere in North Carolina and Pennsylvania. My approach is exploratory, rather than pre-planned or highly structured. My style is informal and at ease; I offer a space where you can relax enough to become more of who you actually are, rather than feeling like we are analyzing or troubleshooting you. Our focus isn’t determined by what we worked on last time or by a treatment manual – it emerges from what you're wanting, wondering, or feeling each time you arrive. I work best with people willing to continue the work between sessions, by practicing present-focused awareness and trying out gentler, more curious responses to their body sensations, thoughts, and feelings. I offer a collaborative space for you to learn to listen to your pain in a way that fosters healing and insight. Because growth takes courage and vulnerability, our work will also empower you to discover your own strength and set your own pace. Our relationship will be rooted in trust, imagination, and fierce respect for the journey you’re on. My approach is a fusion of many therapeutic styles, including Gestalt therapy, humanistic therapy, feminist therapy, and Buddhist psychology. Please visit dorothycashore.com for more details about me and the way I work, then feel free to reach out to schedule a phone consult. I'd be glad to talk with you about whether we'd be a good fit.
