I work with clients on a wide range of issues including anxiety and depression, relational trauma, addiction and co-dependency, attachment, grief, body image, and relationship issues. I prioritize creating a safe and warm therapeutic environment that increases your self-awareness, self-compassion, and connection to your internal wisdom. By working collaboratively together, we can create a tailored approach to address the specific issues that you are currently struggling with. I have experience working with the LGBTQ+ population and trauma survivors (physical, sexual, neglect). I provide integrative treatment approaches that draw from trauma-informed care, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), mindfulness-based psychotherapy, and Sensorimotor Psychotherapy.
If you experience anxiety, depression, relationship issues, ADHD, OCD, or other emotional and behavioral difficulties, we're here to help. Behavioral Health of New York (BHNY) founded by Dr. Mitchell S. Levy, is a private practice of PhD-level psychologists who specialize in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and other evidence-based therapy methods backed by science. Many clients achieve significant progress with CBT in a relatively short period of time. Other clients benefit from interpersonal or relationship-oriented therapy. When we work together, we’ll break down your patterns of thinking and behaviors that cause challenges and hold you back from enjoying life. You’ll develop the skills to feel better and create positive change. Most clients find our approach a very refreshing change from their former therapy.
My work is primarily catered toward issues such as acute stress, interpersonal difficulties, and challenges involving mood and anxiety. While I welcome individuals of all backgrounds, I am particularly invested in working with clients with marginalized identities, acting as a welcoming ally to queer and trans identified individuals and people of color. As a therapist, I have close to a decade of experience working with a range of at-risk populations in a number of professional settings. Many of my clients arrive feeling like they move from one stressor to the next. Getting out of bed is difficult, creativity and passion fade, and scrolling on a screen replaces human contact. My practice aims at helping individuals uncover, clarify, and address substantial barriers which block pleasure and satisfaction. The work I do involves a deep exploration of historical, interpersonal, and emotional factors in conjunction with the development of practical skills aimed at fostering wellness.
My clients typically seek out my help when they are struggling with one or more of the following symptoms: depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, social anxiety, relationship issues, life/goal uncertainties, unwanted compulsions and/or desires, negative and pessimistic thinking, procrastination, internet overuse, among others. My clients are often trauma survivors or adult children of parents who were emotionally and/or verbally abusive to them. My clients are often easily triggered by relationships, authority, responsibility, deadlines, confrontation, interpersonal conflict, decisions, major life transitions such as getting married, having a baby, breaking off a relationship, or starting and/or changing careers. My clients are typically helped by me in therapy through proven techniques that enable them to gain insight into themselves, to develop clarity into some of the reasons why they are feeling these ways, to learn more effective coping skills and strategies, and to experience authentic emotional healing and co-regulation through the warm, supportive, compassionate, validating, and empathetic intervention of a trusted "other." My clients experience healing and growth in treatment with me because of the trusting environment which is developed. They experience being truly seen and known which promotes more positive and optimistic feelings, and they are given the opportunity to see things more realistically, and can finally feel more at ease with themselves and with the world around them.

I specialize in treating OCD, anxiety, & perfectionism. I enjoy helping young adults navigate professional, social, & romantic challenges. Therapy should be tailored, not one-size-fits-all. Finding the right therapist matters — and here's what sets my approach apart. I combine psychodynamic therapy, CBT, mindfulness, and self-compassion into a practical, personalized framework refined over more than 10 years of clinical experience working with high-achievers. I don't believe in a one-size-fits-all approach; you are the expert on your own life. I understand firsthand the pressure to perform, the fear of falling short, and the burnout that comes from relentlessly pushing yourself. I'm not just familiar with those experiences clinically; I've lived them. My clients tell me they appreciate that I'm direct, warm, and genuinely collaborative — that sessions feel both supportive and productive. All sessions are available online, so getting consistent support fits into even the most demanding schedule. If you're ready to stop white-knuckling your way through and start building something that actually feels sustainable, I'd love to connect. Schedule a free 20-minute consultation at susanpodbielski.com — no pressure, just a conversation.
