Therapists for college students near 97203
I love working with college students, especially those struggling with academic stress, anxiety, difficulty adjusting to this new season of life, and/or general life decisions. I can also work well with trauma and offer a Christian perspective upon request. I can't wait to get to know you!
I spent 25 years in the education system, so I know firsthand how college can be an exciting, wonderful time or an incredibly isolating experience. On top of schoolwork (which that alone can be enormously stressful), you might have work, personal goals, relationship problems, family stress, pets, roommate problems, all at a time when you really want to focus on figuring out who you are and what you want your future to be like. The modern university system is not set up to produce happy, well-adjusted people with a clear sense of belonging in a community. My focus is helping you define and achieve your goals, and find peace in the journey. despite (or with) the overwhelming stressors in your life.
Pacific Northwest Psychiatry Associates is a group of psychiatric mental health practitioners serving the entire state of Oregon. We work in collaboration with children, families, and individuals to provide evidence-based individualized care to attain mental wellness and improve the quality of life. It is our belief that mental wellness or illness is a dynamic interplay between environmental, physical, psychological, and social factors with the individual or family at the center of the healing process.
I’m a licensed professional counselor working with individuals and couples. My style is laid back, collaborative, and incorporates evidence-based practices in an approach to healing, learning life skills, and self-discovery. I believe this leads us to live healthy, fulfilling, and meaningful lives. Working with both individuals and couples, my expertise lies in anxiety, divorce and relationship issues as well as working with those going through life transitions or interested in personal or professional growth. There are times in all of our lives where we are faced with a crisis of emotional, mental or spiritual unease and I believe we all have the capacity for healing and self-growth. When we find ourselves at these crossroads finding support in a safe and non-judgmental environment can be of great help. Wherever you are in your personal journey I understand it takes courage to reach out and I feel privileged and humbled to walk with you through that transition. My philosophy encompasses elements of both Gestalt and Existentialism and I seek to connect all facets of a person’s world (the family they grew up in, their gender, faith, culture, education, age, etc.) as I believe that each person has inherent worth and the capacity to grow toward personal fulfillment.
I specialize in work with adult survivors of abuse, as well as anxiety and adjustment issues. I offer compassion and tools to help meet your goals. I offer both in person and telehealth appointments. If you're struggling and need help, reach out so you're not alone. I respond to all contacts within 24 hours.
I see counseling or therapy as an active, collaborative process. I consider it an honor to go on that journey with clients and build a working relationship focused on understanding the process of change and growth, whatever the context and conditions affecting it. I believe we can learn how to best understand our personal situation from a place of acceptance and gratitude, and how to make the most skillful decisions to best enable us to utilize a sense of purpose and maintain appreciation of ourselves and the world around us. I believe in a client centered approach and utilize various treatment modalities to best serve each one.
Hi, I’m Sara Carmona (she/her), a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in Oregon and Colorado and Certified Perinatal Mental Health Therapist (PMH-C). I’ve been providing mental health support since 2011, with a focus on perinatal and reproductive mental health. I work with people across the full span of their reproductive lives—from menarche to menopause. This includes support for fertility challenges, pregnancy and postpartum, birth trauma, abortion, miscarriage, stillbirth, infant loss, birth trauma, and postpartum psychosis recovery. I work with individuals navigating the spectrum of premenstrual mood disorders and perimenopause/ menopause-related changes. My approach is collaborative and relational. I believe healing happens through support, connection, conversation and the sharing of practical tools that make a difference in daily life. I draw from evidence-based therapeutic interventions while centering your lived experience, strengths, and goals. Together, we’ll explore what’s hard, build insight, and identify steps that feel manageable and meaningful. I practice from an anti-oppressive, anti-racist framework and value the unique identities and lived experiences of each person I work with. River City Counseling LLC welcomes individuals of all cultures, races, abilities, religions, sexual orientations, and gender identities. I am open to coordinating care with your medical team, family, or other individuals you'd like to involve in your counseling services.
Congratulations on taking steps to getting support! Therapy is a way to not feel so alone with our pain, change our thoughts and behaviors so they are more adaptive, and allow us to live in a more expansive way. I see you as the expert on you, and my role as an expert in healing, together we collaborate to get you where you want to be in life. Brain science, attachment theory (childhood relationship with our caregivers), and the context of our culture (as it intersects with our identities) are the lenses I use to strengthen your awareness, feel feelings, and heal. Laughter and peace are a necessary part of healing too! I am trained in art therapy, attachment-focused EMDR, Brainspotting, and "parts work," or Internal Family Systems, to work with the limbic area (where trauma is stored) of the brain in order to heal both "big T" and "little t" trauma. Studies have shown that in order to heal trauma and change thoughts/feelings/behavior body and brain based therapies are necessary.
Welcome! I consider counseling a creative space in which you and I collaborate to understand your interpersonal patterns, explore your emotions, build an individualized set of coping skills, and create accountability for working toward your goals. I specialize in treatment for adults, and I work with individuals and couples to understand the roots of your current distress, target issues that are causing daily problems, build self-compassion, and develop evidence-based strategies for ongoing management of symptoms. I work well with individuals and couples who are ready to make and change and motivated for therapy. I am an integrative therapist, meaning I use tools and frameworks from various approaches to counseling based on your unique needs, identities, and lived experiences. My doctoral-level training has supported me in understanding current research to provide you evidence-based interventions in addition to a warm and supportive space to process. I also offer psychodiagnostic assessment, including testing for mood disorders, personality disorders, ADHD, and general IQ testing. Please feel free to reach out for more details. As an art therapist and counselor, I utilize the process and product of art making to support individuals in discovering insight, moving toward growth, and finding balance. Art therapy can offer an alternative means of communication to express difficult emotions or experiences that may feel impossible to put into words. You do not have to identify as an artist to find healing through art therapy. Art making is always optional and no artistic skills or previous experience is needed. If you would like to learn more about what therapy might look like or how I can support you, please feel free to contact me.
