As a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with Balance Psychiatric Services, I provide comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, diagnostic assessments, medication management, and ongoing treatment for adolescents and adults. I work collaboratively with patients to develop individualized, evidence-based treatment plans that may include medication, psychoeducation, and coordination with therapists and other healthcare providers. I treat a wide range of mental health conditions, including anxiety disorders, panic disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), depressive disorders, bipolar and other mood disorders, trauma- and stressor-related disorders, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and other psychiatric conditions. For college and graduate students, clinical documentation and recommendations to support requests for academic accommodations when medically appropriate may be provided for students to access resources that promote academic success while managing their mental health. My goal is to provide compassionate, patient-centered care that supports symptom improvement, functional recovery, and overall well-being.

Hello, I’m Sarah. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with more than 15 years of experience working in youth and family mental health services. My background includes work in community mental health and school-based programs as both a therapist and school social worker. My training and clinical experience have focused on supporting youth and families, survivors of childhood sexual abuse and their families, and individuals experiencing school-related challenges. I work with teens ages 14 and older, as well as adults, and strive to create a space where clients feel safe, respected, and supported. I believe therapy works best when built on trust, collaboration, and genuine human connection. My approach is strengths-based, skills-focused, and collaborative. I believe you already possess strengths, resilience, and capabilities that can serve as a foundation for growth and healing. Together, we’ll build on those existing strengths while developing practical skills to help you navigate challenges more effectively. Depending on your needs and goals, this may include strengthening communication skills, emotional regulation, coping strategies, mindfulness, boundary-setting, or problem-solving techniques. My goal is to provide a supportive, nonjudgmental space that focuses on your strengths, goals, and capacity for growth rather than simply on what may be “wrong.” I want you to feel heard, understood, and empowered as we work together to help you move toward the life you want.

I welcome working with those who are facing transitions or relationship difficulties, have depression and/or anxiety, among other life issues. Sometimes family issues and past wounds can become a focus of treatment. Receiving therapeutic support during these critical moments can make a positive and lasting difference. Life can be stressful, challenging, and overwhelming at times. You may be feeling stuck, uncertain, or burnt out and deeply desire change, but are struggling to make the change you want to experience. You may be grieving a loss or in a transition point in your life, and are unsure of what to do or how to claim your power. You may have experienced discrimination, microaggressions, racism, and systemic or gendered oppression. Perhaps you're a student, in a helping profession, a seasoned professional, an academic, or a creative person navigating change and looking for growth and finding your own definition of success. I am here to support you in the process of what you're navigating, to hold space for all parts of you with curiosity, warmth, and empathy. I believe that you hold within you the wisdom and capacity for personal agency, healing, and growth. At Just This Counseling, we will work together to help you discover, or rediscover, grounding and presence. It is from this empowered space that you can begin to explore and process past experiences, trauma, and the stories and patterns you have been living from in order to discover healing and growth for yourself and move forward with hope and purpose.

Are you someone whose gender, sexuality, or relationship structure falls outside of the mainstream? Are you wanting a supportive, non-judgmental space to explore your identity or your relationship(s)? Do you want to work with someone who understands and has experience working with sexual trauma? Are you excited to work with someone who uses IFS (internal family systems therapy)? If any of the above resonate, let's talk! I love getting to know people’s stories as we work together. I bring warmth, curiosity, humor, and playfulness into the room. I value authenticity, and I believe when I’m fully me, I make space for you to be fully you. Through the therapeutic relationship that we build, we can explore and create safety and a new experience for you, together. You’re not alone. Many people, self-included, have turned to therapy when they find themselves struggling. Whether you know exactly what you want to address in therapy or you’re not quite sure, I’m glad you’re being vulnerable and brave by considering seeking help. I'd be happy to connect with you and see if we might be a good therapeutic fit.

Starting therapy can feel daunting, so take a moment to acknowledge that you have come this far in recognizing therapy may be a helpful approach for you. Therapy requires self-reflection, an open heart, and a curious mind into learning about ourselves and the way in which we interact with the world and those around us. Although it may be daunting, it is incredibly rewarding to unpack and understand what is getting in the way of happiness, growth, intimacy, and self-compassion. My purpose as a therapist is to provide a supportive, nonjudgmental space where individuals can explore the deep rooted issues and patterns that make them feel "stuck". I support clients with strategies pulled from EMDR, mindfulness, yoga, and other person-centered approaches.

Those that come to my practice are often looking a safe space to open up and discuss what is bothering them. My main objective is to provide a safe relationship that is open, non-judgmental, and genuinely empathetic. I believe that these are the ingredients for creating a secure bond through which deep exploration can occur. Through the practice of talk-therapy one can develop self-awareness, understand their behaviors, resolve traumas, and begin to change unwanted patterns. Together we will identify coping skills and valued actions to move you in the direction of a valued life, while also reframing painful thoughts or beliefs that are getting in your way.

I am a licensed professional counselor and have been in practice for over 10 years. I want to acknowledge how uncomfortable or scary it can be to reach out for help and engage in therapy. My goal is to make therapy welcoming and approachable. I am experienced working with individuals struggling with anxiety, depression, substance use as well as other concerns. I also work with couples. Often, we feel stuck. Stuck in our relationships, our jobs and with ourselves. I believe therapy can help us become unstuck and free us from patterns that are causing pain and distress. Please feel free to reach out to me, we can chat and decide if working together feels like a good fit.
