I assist in helping my clients find meaning and fulfillment in life by being engaged and by actively guiding you through your unique life challenges. Most of my clients come see me because they just know life could be better. It HAS to be. For many people who walk through my door, their lives aren't shattered, lying breathless in the corner. These people get up every single day and do the thing. But somehow, somewhere, something still feels off. Maybe it's your relationship. Maybe it's you. Maybe you don't know what it is, but life just doesn't seem right. You're not fully happy. Not yet. I help couples, families, and individuals live better. How? By having lived lots of lives, I've developed a unique perspective. One that has allowed me to develop a mental wellness expertise that mixes therapeutic techniques found in human services and combines them with the results-oriented coaching and leadership skills derived from the professional services field. This specific meld of mojo enables me to provide a different kind of service and perspective where other help may have been unsuccessful.

Life is challenging and trying to figure out who you are, where you are going and what your purpose is, is hard enough. Then we throw in friendships, romantic relationships, careers and family dynamics and we can get overwhelmed so easily. In therapy we work together to find clarity. I have significant experience helping young adults in their 20s and 30s to alleviate symptoms of anxiety and depression by exploring relationship and work difficulties, figuring out adulthood, and navigate feeling lost amongst your peers. I work with college students and young professionals navigating young early adulthood. Where we go in therapy depends on you. I take my expertise and knowledge and tailor it to meet your personal needs and what would bring you relief. I use Acceptance and Commitment Therapy which is rooted in mindfulness and self-compassion with a focus on living a life that makes you feel fulfilled. Whether this is your first time looking for a therapist or you've traveled down this road before, good for you. Asking for help requires courage. If you are looking to work with a therapist that will be interactive, non-judgmental, empathic and kind, reach out to see if we are a good fit. We will set up at 10minute call to see if we are good fit!
Hi! I'm Heather, and I work with trauma survivors, high achievers, and people with lots of anxiety. While I work with all kinds of trauma, my most significant experience is at the intersections of religious trauma and LGBTQ+ identities, and/or high intelligence. I like working with people who want to understand why they do the things they do, or who already know but can't seem to stop doing them.
Your mental health matters. I offer creative and empathetic counseling services to meet you where you are. I am here to help you foster self-awareness, self-compassion, and confidence. We live in an especially stressful time, and we all need extra support. There is no one-size fits all approach to therapy, so I utilize an empathetic, person-centered approach, bringing in tools from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, DBT, and CBT where appropriate. Together, we will develop goals and a treatment plan to help you become the best version of yourself.
Are you feeling stressed, overwhelmed, or anxious? Are you struggling with your self-confidence? Would you like to work on more effective communication? I am here to help! My approach to therapy involves creating a safe, warm, comfortable environment. In my practice I treat anxiety, depression, self-esteem issues, grief, and relationship issues. My role as a therapist is to help you learn the tools for a less stressed, happier, more confident you.
Anxiety is complicated - its like the house guest that shows up unannounced and doesn't know when to leave. Anxiety can sabotage picture perfect moments and sometimes prevent opportunities from even getting off the ground. Other times, it allows us to recognize when we're in danger and helps us spring into action. How do you know when anxiety is serving you well or setting you up? My clients often seek therapy to manage anxiety because they no longer want anxiety taking them by surprise. They want to manage their anxiety in a healthy way, so that they can enjoy their lives. Together, we work towards creating a game plan that works best for you to achieve anxiety relief. Anxiety can go unnoticed for a long-time, especially in a college setting where high-performance is expected. We will talk about how high-functioning anxiety shows up in your life. Procrastination and avoidance paired with perfectionism is a winning combination for someone to misallocate their energy and efforts and burnout in the process. If this rings true to you, I would be honored to chat with you about I can help you live your life with a little more ease.
There is only so much we can do on our own. Everyone can benefit from getting another perspective and sometimes family and friends can be a bit too close. If you are struggling with depression, anxiety, grief or loss it may benefit you to reach out. I can work with you to stabilize your relationships, identify professional goals and navigate life transitions intentionally and with hope.
Making that first call feels like failing. You have "no time for therapy"--you're already spread thin. You've tried everything, but nothing seems to be working. And even when it does, it's only for a moment. You are ready to feel like you are thriving instead of merely surviving. ...It's a little terrifying to think about diving into the things weighing you down though, right? Ask yourself this (and be honest!): "Can I keep going like I am now? And if I do, what will that look like?" Change occurs when--despite the discomfort and not quite knowing how you'll get there--all you know is you can't keep doing what you're doing. I've been told by many clients that I really hear them. I believe in asking YOU what you'd like to gain from therapy and asking YOU about your goals--not just basing them on a diagnosis. I don't talk *at* you--I talk *with* you. I take a "real" and informal approach. Laughter, making faces or noises are all acceptable ways to express emotions! I welcome you to bring coffee (or water or tea!) and sit wherever you feel comfortable in the room. It doesn't matter your age--you can color or draw, or just sit back and drink your coffee while we chat. I have a laid back style and it's important that my therapy room is a comfortable, relaxing environment. Reach out--let's see if we may be a good fit!
