Therapists for college students near University of Pittsburgh
Hi, I’m Marlee, a Licensed Associate Professional Counselor (LAPC) offering virtual, trauma-informed therapy for college students, teens, adults, and couples across [Your State]. My practice is rooted in person-centered, inclusive care, with a focus on supporting clients navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, identity exploration, and relationship challenges. I use evidence-based approaches including EMDR, psychodynamic therapy, and mindfulness techniques, always tailoring sessions to meet your unique needs. As a millennial therapist, I offer a modern, collaborative style that’s affirming, nonjudgmental, and grounded in real connection
I’m a good fit for students who get trapped in their head—overthinking everything, replaying conversations, second-guessing decisions, or feeling like they can’t relax unless everything is “handled.” You might be high-achieving, but constantly stressed, exhausted, or scared of messing up. Sometimes that turns into procrastination, avoidance, or feeling numb. In therapy, we’ll focus on helping you calm the mental noise, handle stress more effectively, and build confidence in your choices—so school and life don’t feel like a constant emergency.
Excited to meet with you, I am dedicated to guiding you on a journey toward mental wellness. I am compassionate and experienced dual-certified nurse practitioner with over 30 years in nursing, I focus on providing comprehensive mental health care to individuals aged 14 and older. I have a Master in Nursing with a focus of Family Practice since 2010 from Clarion University, Clarion, PA. I obtain my post Master Certificate in Psychiatry as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse in 2021 from Wilkes University, Wilkes-Barre, PA. My expertise spans a wide range of mental health issues, including depression, ADHD, anxiety, and bipolar disorder and more. With a background in family and psychiatric nursing, I am committed to delivering personalized care.
Do emotions hit you like a tidal wave, or are you often stuck between feeling like you’re “too much” or “not enough”? Maybe you’re struggling to understand who you are or feel numb and disconnected from the world around you. Despite your best attempts at supporting yourself, are you still feeling stuck, anxious, and lonely? I can help you move towards a more peaceful and fulfilling life. As a therapist, I aim to help you understand your emotional patterns, strengthen your relationships, and feel more anchored in yourself. I work best with people who are seeking a cohesive sense of self, especially those who experience intense emotions, identity challenges, and the impacts of trauma. Much of my clinical experience has been working with college aged individuals. I have an affinity for working with neurodivergent individuals and members of the LGBTQIA+ community. My primary orientation is psychodynamic therapy. I also utilize Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and hold advanced training in the Flash Technique. My clinical interests include codependency, C-PTSD, anxiety, depression, relationship issues, body image, and disordered eating. I am Poly/Kink affirming and my approach aligns with the principles of Health at Every Size (HAES). In our sessions, we will explore how early experiences and relationships have shaped how you see yourself and others. I believe that true healing happens in the context of a safe and authentic relationship with a shared sense of purpose. My approach is collaborative, open, and direct. Together we’ll create a space where you can learn to unmask, explore, grow, and connect with your true self.

Ciminera Psychotherapy works specifically with adolescents and young adults. I may be a good fit for you if you are struggling with adjusting to school, making new friends, feeling isolated/alone, or struggling with family/relationship conflicts. I also have experience working with trauma and helping to heal. I believe in person-centered treatment and tailor our therapy sessions to your specific needs.
I work best with students who are motivated and thoughtful, but feel stuck—whether that’s struggling to focus, feeling overwhelmed by academic pressure, or wondering if ADHD, a learning difference, or anxiety might be part of the picture. I offer neuropsychological evaluations to help students understand how their brain works—clarifying strengths, challenges, and what may be getting in the way of learning or performance. These evaluations are often helpful for students seeking answers, clarity, or documentation for academic supports. I also provide CBT-based therapy, which focuses on practical tools to manage anxiety, stress, perfectionism, and unhelpful thinking patterns. Therapy is active and collaborative, and we work toward concrete changes that make daily life and school feel more manageable. If you’re looking for clearer answers about yourself and support that’s structured, practical, and grounded, I may be a good fit.
I've dedicated my career to helping people heal from addictions and other emotional issues. I take a holistic approach to therapy, and can incorporate evidence based treatment with non-traditional energy healing modalities. I have a working knowledge of the Twelve Step philosophy with over 26 years of personal experience, which makes me uniquely qualified to help people (and their loved ones) who are struggling with an addiction. At Insight Psychological Services, our team works collaboratively to provide psychotherapy, psychiatric evaluations and medication management for individuals and families.

As a young adult, you often wonder what can be done to help yourself feel better. You have tried many things yet there has been little to no lasting improvement. Your personality has changed, you have challenges with relationships, their interests have decreased and you worry that things might get worse. You know that you have great potential to do great things but the way things are going, your future looks bleak. Seeking help can be scary, because you want to make sure that you have someone but feel scared about taking the risk of letting anyone in. Imagine what it would feel like not to constantly worry about so many things all of the time and feel confident about making decisions about everyday tasks. You would feel better about yourself and your ability to handle difficult situations that arise. In order to accommodate your schedule, I offer evening and weekend appointments so you don't have to worry about missing school. Together, we'll create a customized plan to get you back on track. I recognize the importance of meeting you where you are at and I will be here to help guide and support you. Starting therapy might feel intimidating, so I acknowledge how hard it may feel to reach out and take that first step. But I hope you find the value in beginning this journey. College can be a wild mix of freedom and stress... with friend drama, missing home but wanting independence, figuring out what you want to do with your life, financial pressure, loneliness when friend groups shift, and the everyday weight of adult responsibilities starting to pile up. It’s a lot to carry, and it makes sense if you’re feeling stuck, anxious, or unsure how to handle it all. And then, when you’re finally ready to reach out for support, finding a therapist can feel like another full-time assignment. Scrolling through endless profiles feels a little like online dating... you’re reading way too many bios, everyone sounds kind of the same, and you’re left wondering who you’ll actually click with. Add in the stress of costs, schedules, and trying to figure out if they’ll really get what you’re going through, and it’s exhausting before you even start. My goal is to make that step less overwhelming and give you a space where you don’t have to perform, pretend, or have it all figured out.
