Therapists for college students near Houston, TX
Anxiety, trauma, and childhood wounds don’t just disappear. They sneak into daily life and make things feel heavier, even when nothing seems wrong. I work with teens and adults, often helping people whose feelings weren’t fully seen or supported growing up. Anxiety and trauma can show up as overthinking, perfectionism, people-pleasing, or that constant “something’s off” feeling. I take a warm, trauma-informed approach, moving at your pace so you can feel grounded, seen, and in charge of your life. I help teens and adults navigate anxiety, trauma, and childhood wounds using EMDR, Parts Work, somatic techniques, and CBT. Together we build coping skills, process difficult memories, and work toward healing. Therapy can be intense, but we also laugh, roll our eyes at anxiety, and celebrate small wins along the way. I help you care for the inner child you once needed, challenge the beliefs feeding anxiety, and rebuild self-worth. It’s okay if it’s messy, we will work through it together. Step by step, we’ll create space for calm, clarity, and connection. Reach out for a free consultation and let’s get started.
Hi! It's so nice to meet you! I am Rachael Lindberg (she/her), a Licensed Professional Counselor and Clinical Certified Sexologist. I provide online mental health counseling in Texas for couples and individuals to help build resilience, foster healthy relationships, and enhance emotional well-being. Does this sound like you? You feel your emotions very deeply. You struggle with perfectionism or never feeling good enough. You or your relationship is experiencing a life transition like adjusting to or graduating from college, getting married, or entering parenthood. You've been told you are a people pleaser and you overfunction when overwhelmed. You want tools to cope with big emotions and strengthen your relationship with yourself and others. You are not alone. I've been there too, so let's connect!
Virtual, outpatient program specializing in anxiety and/or OCD for patients ages 7-24. Comprehensive program includes individual therapy, psychiatry, and exposure response coaching. Patients can also engage in weekly ERP groups.
Welcome! Life is a journey and sometimes we just feel stuck. We encounter stress with work, relationships, school and life. Sometimes we are not sure what will help. I can teach you tools to help navigate through life's stressors so it does not feel so overwhelming.
You may be seeking therapy after a breakup, sudden loss, or overwhelming life experience — especially if you’re someone who is thoughtful, self-aware, and used to functioning at a high level. You understand your anxiety, trauma, or relationship patterns intellectually, yet when something triggers you, your body and emotions react in ways you can’t think you're way out of. Insight alone hasn’t brought the relief you expected. You need a different kind of support. I'll help you find change beyond talk therapy. We can work together in weekly sessions or extended EMDR intensives for accelerated healing-especially when weekly therapy feels too slow or life doesn’t allow for a long-term pace. EMDR helps the brain & body process what’s still “stuck,” so triggers lose their intensity and old patterns no longer run the show. If you’re ready to explore whether therapy with me or an EMDR intensive can help you feel real relief, schedule a free consultation call. I typically respond within 1 business day & we’ll start by talking through what you’re hoping for and whether this feels like a good fit. In-person sessions in East Dallas & online therapy in TX, FL, LA, and VA.
I am a board-certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner specializing in medication management and mental health care across the lifespan. Utilizing my nursing background, I developed an empathetic approach to caring for a diverse population of patients. I pursued my undergraduate studies at Austin Peay State University, earning her Bachelor of Nursing degree. I earned my Doctor of Nursing Practice degree with a focus on psychiatric mental health from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, where I graduated with honors. My focus is fostering a patient-centered, therapeutic relationship while implementing an evidence-based approach to mental health wellness. My role as a psych NP involves conducting comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, developing individualized treatment plans, prescribing medications, and providing psychotherapy. I am an active member of professional organizations such as the American Psychiatric Nurses Association (APNA), the American Nurses Association (ANA), and my state nurses’ association.
I am an APRN, PMHNP-BC providing virtual psychiatric care across Texas & Maryland for adolescents, college students, and adults. I work with students navigating stress, academic pressure, anxiety, depression, ADHD, OCD, and major life transitions. I also have specialized training in child and adolescent psychiatry and family-focused care, including adoption-related dynamics. My approach is collaborative and down-to-earth, focusing on what’s actually affecting your day-to-day life and school experience. I combine medication management with practical, skills-based strategies like motivational interviewing, DBT skills, ACT, and interpersonal therapy to help you feel more steady, focused, and supported.
The students I connect with most are often feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure of where they’re headed. Many of them are juggling school, relationships, family pressure, and trying to figure out who they are — all at once. They may look like they have it all together, but inside, they're feeling anxious, burnt out, or like they’re falling behind. What they all have in common is a desire for change — even if they’re not sure what that change looks like yet. They’re open to talking things through, getting real about what’s going on, and learning how to take small, manageable steps forward. If this sounds like you, you’re not alone. Therapy is a space where we can figure things out together — no judgment, no pressure, just support and tools that actually make sense for your life.
I practice via telehealth in NY, NC, WA, and TX. I specialize in working with adult men and women who may look fine on the outside, but inside you're struggling to get your own needs met, self-doubt, perfectionism, and shame. Gestalt Therapy goes beyond looking only at the cognitive, linear perspective of the person. It demands of the therapist an awareness of the body and how it manifests in the psyche. Through its focus on process rather than content, the patient gains an experiential awareness of how they do what they do and new choices emerge spontaneously. The radical focus on process in Gestalt creative therapy keeps the work alive and full of possibility for both the patient and for my work as a therapist. Melissa Bennett-Heinz obtained her master’s degree in clinical social work from Columbia University (Class of 2002) and is a graduate of Gestalt Associates for Psychotherapy in New York City, NY. In addition to her background in Gestalt Therapy, she obtained her bachelor's and master’s degrees from the esteemed conservatory, Manhattan School of Music, in New York City, where she majored in Oboe Performance. Melissa completed cognitive behavioral studies under the tutelage of Dr. William Sanderson. She is a licensed clinical social worker in NY, WA, NC, and TX and has over twenty years of specialized training and experience in PTSD, childhood abuse, mood and anxiety disorders. Melissa brings her background as a classical musician and deep spirituality together in her unique approach in Gestalt's creative and experiential therapy.
