Therapists for college students near University of Chicago
Relational trauma can make you feel like you’re not good enough and somehow too much at the same time. You might be hyper aware of others' needs which leaves you feeling emotionally exhausted. You over-function in relationships and struggle with conflict and boundaries due to fear of rejection. No matter what you do, it feels like you’re a supporting character in the cast of your own life. You may have developed these parts of yourself in order to feel safe, but what would life look like if you could shed old scripts and live authentically with emotional balance and self-trust? Let’s explore how trauma and loss may influence the way you interact with the world around you. I prefer a more holistic approach to therapy and don’t believe that we can always think our way out of something. I’m interested in helping you develop healthy relationships with others, but more importantly your relationship with yourself.

** Telehealth and In-Person appointments.** We all long for our experiences, feelings, and needs to be seen, recognized, and honored. I bring to our work deep respect for your concerns and suffering. I place the therapeutic relationship at the heart of our work together which I approach with curiosity and empathy. A safe-enough space will help us to transform your patterns of experience that interfere with your ability to be compassionate with yourself, to build meaningful relationships, and to work and play creatively, in other words, to live a fulfilling life. I am humbled by the complexity of human existence and feel honored to work with individuals from different racial and cultural backgrounds, sexual and gender identities, as well as spiritual and religious affiliations. In addition to my private practice, I am an Instructor in Psychology at Harvard Medical School (part-time) and supervise psychology interns and psychiatrist fellows. Hi, I’m April! I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in Illinois and work with clients statewide via telehealth. Often the clients I see are adults that are working through life transition concerns, anxiety, self-esteem, trauma, depression, relationship concerns, grief, and work stress. I have experience working with a wide range of populations and in therapeutic settings treating a variety of mental health concerns. I would describe my communication style as welcoming, calm, and encouraging. I focus on creating a safe, non-judgmental, and empowering space for clients to share their experiences and thoughts in session. I want my clients to feel comfortable being their authentic selves as I believe this is an important element of our work together. Sessions often look like a collaborative effort to assist clients with their goals. I work alongside clients to identify goals that they believe are the most important for them to achieve during our time together. This starts with us building trust and rapport with one another in our sessions so that we can create a strong team environment to assist with goal achievement. I also pride myself on being flexible as I understand goals can shift as clients begin exploring other areas of their lives in session. Please visit my website for additional information on session cost, accepted insurance plans or to schedule a therapy appointment.

I’m a Master's-level psychotherapist passionate about helping women and men across all life stages find clarity, peace, and direction through life’s many transitions. Whether you’re navigating career pressures, relationship stress, or simply feeling lost while juggling it all, therapy can be your space to breathe and reconnect with yourself. I specialize in supporting women and men through healing, growth, and rediscovery. Healing doesn’t have to look perfect—it just has to start. Together, we’ll move you from survival mode to a place of clarity, confidence, and emotional freedom. My therapeutic approach is down-to-earth, affirming, and collaborative. I draw from Person-Centered Therapy and CBT, integrating cultural awareness and trauma-informed care to meet you where you are. I believe therapy should feel like a space where you can exhale, reflect, and start feeling capable again. Many of my clients come to me in seasons of transition…graduating, changing careers, rebuilding after loss, or rediscovering identity midlife. Together, we’ll untangle what’s keeping you stuck and create a path toward balance, freedom, and confidence. I believe healing happens not through perfection, but through compassion and learning to care for yourself.
Hello! I am a proud Hispanic Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 10 years of experience in the social service field and 3 years practicing therapy. I’m also certified in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and I’m passionate about providing support that is compassionate, practical, and culturally grounded. Mental health is essential for everyone, and I believe it holds a special importance within the Hispanic community where stigma can sometimes make seeking help difficult. My goal is to create a safe, welcoming space where healing and growth are possible for all.
I'm Chelsea Horn, owner and founder of Wild Haven Counseling. I’ve been practicing as a licensed mental health counselor since 2018. My passion lies in helping adults and college students navigate life transitions, develop strengths, and find meaning and purpose. I’m skilled in treating anxiety, perfectionism, imposter feelings and self-doubt, depression, binge eating, and body image issues. In the therapy room, I combine evidence-based practices with a touch of humor and humanity. I see therapy as a space where the focus is entirely on you, where you can reflect on your experiences, reconnect with yourself, and rediscover what brings you joy and fulfillment. I believe a strong therapeutic relationship is the foundation for real change. My style is collaborative and conversational; I offer input and perspective, but I also recognize that you are the expert on your own life. Together, we’ll identify goals that feel meaningful to you. I often encourage clients to practice new skills outside of sessions, which helps build confidence and momentum in daily life. I also take a holistic approach to mental health, considering how emotional, physical, and spiritual well-being all connect. My philosophy centers on pursuing wholeness over perfection. Growth isn’t about getting everything right, it’s about showing up for yourself, learning along the way, and taking that first step toward change.

Sometimes words don't cut it. Are you feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or seeking a safe space to explore your inner world? Art therapy uses tools that take traditional talk therapy to the next level by giving you an embodied experience. The heart of my practice is believing people are their own experts. You are the ONLY you with your exact values, experiences, routines, heartaches, and desires. I want you to feel seen, foster a deeper understanding of your journey, and find answers and solace through your own innate intuition. If you're new to art therapy you may not be aware of how creativity can open new doors of understanding and connection. Sometimes we get stuck on a judgmental message from 1st grade that we aren’t “good” at artmaking. Well, I say forget that! You ARE inherently creative and it’s okay to heal using both the logical AND intuitive sides of your brain. You get to lead at your comfort level and I will authentically support you using tools and techniques (whether open-ended or more structured) to guide you. If you are seeking space to work through an issue you're having, improve self-esteem, cope with anxiety or depression, manage stress, deal with relationship or parenting issues, process trauma, or just vent, consider reaching out to me.
My name is Buck, I am relatable, empathic, and easy to talk to. I love working with teenagers and adults of all ages, including athletes. My clinical specialties include working with athletes struggling with performance anxiety, depression, burnout, difficult life transitions, occupational stress, low self-esteem and self-confidence, stress management. Clients who have made the most progress working with me have been those who identify as athletes or other performers, teenagers and adults of any gender. Regardless of athletic ability, I am always happy to be someone's teammate in their therapy process. Obtaining my dual master’s degrees in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and Sport and Human Performance was just the start of my ongoing learning. Interventions I commonly focus on most include values identification, reframing thinking patterns, boundary setting, mindfulness, motivation exploration, and emotional regulation. As an athlete myself, I have experienced performance anxiety that led to difficult athletic transitions as well as the struggle of what my identity entailed beyond college. A combination of personal experience and supporting clients has allowed me to fully understand the grueling nature of attempting to juggle many obligations and roles in life that can create the feeling of being “spread too thin” and leading to potential burnout. My hope is to create a strong sense of rapport from our first session, creating a safe and comfortable atmosphere, where we can collaborate to help you identify and reach your therapy goals to promote an enhanced quality of life.
