Do you want to feel understood? Are you having trouble communicating your point of view/handling conflict? Anything you are experiencing; you do not have to discover the solutions on your own. With a fresh perspective, you will find your inner power, gain self-confidence, and know you are somebody who is enough. Hello, and welcome to my page! Over the past 15 years, I have worked as a mental health counselor, counselor educator, and supervisor for counselors-in-training. While I specialize in counseling clients with anxiety disorders, I welcome anyone to my practice who is looking to make a positive change in their lives. Making the choice to come to counseling is a big step, and I hope to be a part of the process that leads you towards a happier, healthier life. One of the things that keeps me energized about being a mental health counselor is that every one of the people I see is unique. Everyone has their own experiences, their own way of seeing the world, and their own goals for their future. This has pushed me over the years to get specialized training in a number of therapeutic interventions including: Rational-Emotive Behavior Therapy, Emotion-Focused Therapy, Reality Therapy, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Adlerian Therapy, Process Therapy, and Transactional Analysis to name a few. I find that being able to pull from a number of therapeutic interventions allows me to meet the unique needs of my clients and to provide the best care possible. My past clients have described me as a combination of supportive, intuitive, and matter-of-fact in my counseling style. I believe that the best relationships (counseling and otherwise) are built on a foundation of mutual respect and understanding, and I strive towards this with my clients. I've found that when my clients feel heard, understood, and appreciated, that we can achieve great strides towards whatever they are working towards. The counseling process isn't always easy, but it can be life changing. Let's see what we can achieve together.
I get it, being in college feels like academic pressures, real life issues, and the most unwelcome, surprise challenges all rolled up in one. I specialize in women’s mental health and provide virtual therapy for young adult women navigating anxiety, academic stress, life transitions, executive functioning challenges, relationship concerns, and self-esteem.
You don’t have to figure it all out alone. I work with teens, young adults, and parents navigating life transitions, relationship challenges, and growing self awareness. Many clients feel overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure how to move forward. I believe each person holds the insight and strength needed for growth, and my role is to be part of your team as you sort through thoughts, emotions, and experiences. Together, we slow down, build understanding, and create meaningful change while strengthening relationships, emotional awareness, and confidence in navigating life’s challenges.
At Taylor’s Touch of Clarity, we work best with college students who feel overwhelmed, stressed, or uncertain—even if everything looks “fine” on the outside. Many of the students we support are balancing classes, work, family expectations, relationships, and the pressure to figure out their future, all at the same time. You may be experiencing constant stress, anxiety that makes it hard to focus, low confidence, or feeling stuck in your own head. Some students come to us feeling burned out, disconnected, or unsure of who they are becoming. Others are navigating depression, self-esteem challenges, relationship concerns, or major life transitions. If any of this sounds familiar, you’re not alone—and support is available. Our practice is built on creating a safe, non-judgmental space where students can openly talk about what they’re going through without feeling rushed, labeled, or misunderstood. We focus on meeting you where you are and tailoring care to your individual needs, rather than using a one-size-fits-all approach. At Taylor’s Touch of Clarity, counseling is a collaborative process. We believe progress happens best when clients feel heard, respected, and actively involved in their growth. Our clinicians work alongside students to build practical coping skills, increase emotional awareness, and strengthen confidence in both academic and personal areas of life. Using a client-centered and strengths-based approach, we help students identify their values, recognize their strengths, and develop tools to manage stress, anxiety, mood challenges, and relationship concerns. Our goal is not just to help you get through college, but to support you in building skills and self-understanding that will serve you well beyond it.
Join me in learning the tools and skills to intentionally create the life that you desire. I work with clients who are looking to strengthen trust in themselves. My overarching goal for every client who comes to see me is for them to have a more loving, compassionate relationship to themselves, others, and their past. I use a holistic collaborative approach to counseling that recognizes our unique multidimensional nature, and honors the connection between mind, emotions, energy, and body. Birdie, my office puppy, is a gentle presence who offers passive emotional support to clients who enjoy animal companionship. I work with adults, college students, teens, adolescents, couples, and families, to: 1. Identify harmful thought and behavior patterns, 2. Understand what's at the root of these patterns, 3. Cultivate tools and behaviors that encourage, rather than inhibit, growth. I offer compassionate, honest feedback, providing an outside lens that will allow you to see yourself more clearly. I believe everyone has the tools within them to heal and grow. You can reconnect with your authentic and confident self. Let's rekindle the spark within you and heal the past that is holding you back from the life you desire. I would be honored to assist you in opening up paths to trusting yourself and healing your past in your journey to wholeness.
In the beginning, clients typically tell me they can't stop thinking about food. They’re finding a large part of their day is dedicated to their next meal. They miss out on time with loved ones because the concern of what they will “be able” to eat is too strong. A lot of my clients find themselves in a dieting spiral. They “do good” for a while, and then they binge later, leading to feelings of shame and guilt. Most have heard confusing things about bodies throughout their lives. After some hard work and difficult conversations, these clients get their lives back. They stop thinking about food as much, they see their bodies as neutral, and they take back control of their lives. The time they used to spend thinking about food and exercise is replaced with meaningful memories with friends and family. My style of therapy involves a lot of humor, open mindedness, focusing on strengths, and providing feedback. You can expect a listening ear, a confidential space, and a therapist who wants to see you develop into the best possible version of yourself. I am currently seeing clients in NC(in person or virtual) and OH (virtually) Questions? Call or email for a free consultation!

Therapy is not a luxury, it’s a courageous step toward wellness. Are you a college student of color feeling the weight of expectations on your shoulders? Juggling classes, work, caregiving, or family responsibilities? Maybe you're navigating a painful breakup or divorce, feeling isolated, or burned out from always being the strong one for everyone else. You’re not alone and you don’t have to carry it all by yourself. Whether you're a first-gen student trying to find your footing, returning to school after years away, balancing school with parenting, or simply stuck in a cycle of stress, anxiety, or emotional pain, your experiences matter. Your healing matters. Therapy can be a powerful space to breathe, process, and begin again. You deserve support that sees and honors all parts of your journey. Take the first step. You’re worth it.
I was born and raised in the Columbia area where I stayed to attend undergraduate and graduate school, graduating with a Master of Social Work degree from the University of South Carolina. I am independently licensed to provide therapy services and have experience working with children, teens, young adults, and parents to address concerns such as trauma, depression, and anxiety. I accept Blue Cross-Blue Shield insurance as well as private pay. I am currently accepting in-person and virtual clients in South Carolina and North Carolina. Please don't hesitate to ask me about my sliding-scale fees.
Healing happens when we feel safe enough to show up exactly as we are. All parts of you are welcome here. I’m not here to change you or fix you. I don’t think you are “broken” or that there's anything "wrong" with you. Together we'll create an accepting + compassionate environment, with respect for your intuition + body's wisdom underlying all that we do. I’m trauma + social justice-informed and view therapy through an intersectional lens (mind, body, environment, culture). During our time together, we’ll likely look at environmental factors (interpersonal, economic, oppression) that create individual/collective stress and trauma. I value equity, consent and boundaries in the therapeutic relationship and strive to create a space that is safe, non-judgmental and accepting. My approach is collaborative + holistic, centering around values of empathy, connection and deep listening. I’m Internal Family Systems-informed and incorporate somatic + mindfulness-based approaches into sessions. I provide an Autism-affirming perspective in therapy and believe Autism is a genetically-based neurotype, not a medical disorder. "I understand being autistic to be a cultural identity and recognize autistic people as experts on their own culture." (quote from Trauma Geek). Please visit my website for more information. Warmly, River (they/she)
I'm so glad you're here! Pursuing therapy is a courageous choice that can feel daunting and uncertain. I hope to demystify the process and encourage feelings of trust, safety, and empowerment. My goal is to help folks gain insight, learn new coping strategies, and increase their self-confidence, self-compassion, and self-advocacy. It is important to me to get to know you, how you see the world, and the ways in which your identities, lived experiences, and environment impact your mental health and coping. I provide individual and group therapy services to adult clients. I also provide psychological assessment and evaluation. I specialize in working with trauma, OCD and anxiety disorders, and body image and eating concerns. Additionally, I enjoy helping individuals gain insight into their relationships, interpersonal patterns, and intersecting identities. Having worked in several college counseling centers, I especially enjoy working with young adults. I believe everyone can benefit from therapy, whether to address a specific concern, to strengthen existing coping strategies, or to increase confidence and facilitate personal growth. While you are the expert on your life, I offer expertise as a psychologist to help you build the life you want to live and navigate life's challenges with more ease. I am a PSYPACT provider, meaning I can provide teletherapy to individuals in participating states. I provide virtual appointments to individuals in North Carolina.
I specialize in assisting neurodiverse populations as well as LGBTQIA+, those with chronic illnesses, and those who are looking to deepen their relationship with themselves and their world. I have specific training around the systematic influences in one’s life. I am committed to understanding how the systems and relationships you are a part of are influencing your health and wellbeing while still understanding and encouraging where you have agency and autonomy. I believe that the best therapy is co-created between therapist and client so I will cater specifically to your needs with my strengths. I take a non-judgemental solutions focused approach and integrate other methods such as narrative, expressive arts, experiential, somatic, DBT, and trauma informed practices to cater each session to where each specific client “is at”.
