Hello! My name is Nicole Wong (she/her) and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in New York’s Hudson Valley. I specialize in helping adults heal from trauma, overcome anxiety, and relinquish their self-doubt. Your voice deserves to be heard and listened to. I would so appreciate the opportunity to engage in this therapeutic process with you. In my work, I provide trauma-informed, strengths-based, and person-centered therapy to my clients, while integrating an empathic, intersectional, and holistic approach. My practice is grounded in allowing my clients to explore all aspects of their identities while working through their life experiences. It is important to me that you are in control of your therapeutic process and that our work together is collaborative in its approach and catered to meet your needs and goals. Prior to my transition to being a therapist, I worked for nine years in trauma and anti-violence, university administration, and nonprofit management. For most of my professional career, I have helped individuals heal from trauma and loss and advocated for survivors in their communities. My foundations in trauma-informed approaches and advocacy remain a strong tenet of my work with clients today. I earned my Masters of Science degree in Social Work at Columbia University in Advanced Clinical Practice with a focus on Health, Mental Health, and Disabilities. Previously, I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and English from Vassar College.

I enjoy helping to support people as they navigate through the many different waves of life. I help to create a warm, non judgmental, and supportive environment where clients are free to talk about their stories. I draw from a number of different treatment modalities, but most importantly, meet the client where they are at. While each individual's experience is unique, I regularly work with clients around topics related to anxiety, depression, obsessive thoughts, relationship concerns, sexuality, ADHD, life's transitions, familial conflict and many more. In this busy world, it can be difficult to make time to focus on your needs. Therapy provides a space to do so and share your story in a safe and non judgmental environment. Sessions are a time to practice self care, utilize your strengths, and develop tools that help you gain a better understanding of you. I would love to have the chance to work with you and hear your story. Currently, sessions are teletherapy based allowing you more flexibility to be in a familiar setting and join from any mobile or desktop device. I would love to help you with the process of learning more about you and develop the tools to navigate the many waves of life.
Do you ever feel overwhelmed by the pressure you put on yourself or by what everyone else seems to expect from you? College can come with a long list of demands. Do well in classes. Make friends. Join clubs. Keep everyone happy. Figure out your future. When all of this adds up, it can start to feel heavy and confusing. I’m Emily, a therapist with extensive experience working with children, teens, and adults in community mental health clinics, schools, non-profits, and group practices. I help students work through anxiety, depression, self-doubt, identity exploration, social challenges, and the impact of past experiences or trauma. I use approaches like CBT, DBT, and psychodynamic therapy, along with a strengths-based and trauma-informed perspective. What this really means is that we work together to understand what you are experiencing and develop tools that fit you as an individual. My goal is to offer a space where you feel safe, accepted, and supported while you figure things out. You deserve a place where you can be honest, build confidence, and move toward self-acceptance. Whatever you are facing, you belong here. I am here to listen, help you make sense of things, and support you as you work toward the life you want.
I believe therapy should be a space where you can show up as you are—without judgment, pressure, or the expectation that you have everything figured out. My approach to therapy is collaborative, compassionate, and tailored to the individual. I work with clients experiencing anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, life transitions, stress, communication difficulties, and other concerns that can make life feel overwhelming or disconnected. I also enjoy working with couples who want to strengthen communication, better understand one another, rebuild emotional connection, and develop healthier ways to navigate conflict. In our work together, we will look beyond simply managing symptoms and explore the thoughts, emotions, experiences, relationships, and patterns that may be influencing how you feel and respond today. I integrate evidence-based therapeutic approaches while recognizing that therapy is not one-size-fits-all. Together, we will identify practical strategies that fit your needs, build on your strengths, and work toward meaningful, sustainable change. I understand that beginning therapy and finding the right therapist can feel vulnerable. My goal is to create an environment where you feel heard, respected, and comfortable enough to have honest conversations, including the difficult ones. Whether you are navigating a challenging period, trying to understand yourself more deeply, struggling in a relationship, or simply recognizing that something in your life needs to change, we can work together to figure out what moving forward looks like for you.

Hi there! Have you been thinking about starting therapy or suggesting it to a friend? I’m here to say DO IT! Let's change the narrative—seeking therapy is a sign of strength and self-care. It’s not just for tough times; it’s a powerful tool for personal growth and self-discovery. Therapy helps you focus on what truly matters— YOU. My goal is to provide a safe and supportive space where we can work together to tackle life's challenges. Investing in your mental health is one of the best gifts you can give yourself. You deserve it, and your future self will thank you for it! I’m passionate about helping young adults tackle the unique challenges of being student-athletes, from managing sport-related stress to balancing academic responsibilities. I also support those navigating life changes, dealing with anxiety and depression, and exploring their identities, including gender identity and sexual orientation. I'm here to walk with you on your therapy journey. Whether you’re dealing with stress, anxiety, or just want to grow personally, I provide a safe and open space to talk about your thoughts and feelings. Together, we can find ways to improve your mental health and help you lead a healthier, more balanced life.
My approach to therapy is focused on developing genuine relationships that are collaborative and empathic, so clients can feel safe, understood, and supported in sessions. I’m committed to exploring and affirming each client's individuality and intersecting identities, and to supporting individuals in the LGBTQ+ and CNM communities, college students, and professors. I work with adults focused on issues related to social anxiety, ADHD, trauma, LGBTQ+ issues, relationship/communication dynamics, and climate anxiety. Sessions are based on a foundation of relational warmth and safety to build a sense of connection, empowerment, deeper insight, and personal resiliency. I primarily draw from person-centered, feminist, trauma-informed, narrative, and IFS approaches, but there is not one specific kind of therapy that works well for everyone. We all have unique strengths and perspectives. Sessions focus on identifying ways to create sustainable positive changes given each client's particular context and lived experience.
I believe in healing through corrective experiences. It is possible to heal from trauma & anxiety, rather than just learning coping with it! I prefer to use methods that are designed to alleviate the distress associated with painful memories. This includes Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR) and other Experiential Therapy modalities that are proven to be equally as effective in a virtual setting.
My approach is influenced by C.G. Jung, Viktor Frankl (Man's Search for Meaning) Socratic dialogue, Buddhism and Quaker meetings. I work best with the person who sees their life as a journey of self-discovery. I will help you uncover the solutions that you already have and see the problematics of those solutions. I will help you listen to your muse, interpret your dreams, identify your interpersonal patterns and face the fears and anxieties that haunt you. I will treat your troubles with the utmost respect because they help you learn and grow. Gratitude softens pain. I find parallels between creativity & spiritual inspiration.
I believe a therapist's job is to help people get "unstuck." All behavior serves a purpose. Even the most painful or confusing patterns often began as ways to cope with overwhelming circumstances. In therapy, we'll explore these parts of yourself and work to deepen self-awareness. Over time, you will come to recognize that while your emotional responses once made perfect sense, they may no longer serve you in the same way. Therapy is not about erasing or lingering in the past, but about making meaning from it. At the heart of my work is a belief in the healing power of feeling truly seen, heard, and understood. Together, we’ll turn inward with curiosity and compassion so you can move through the world with greater clarity, coherence, and connection.
My clients say that they find my honest, warm, and straightforward approach to be refreshing and helpful. Whether you're dealing with relationship issues, school stress, or a sense of being stuck, these obstacles can trigger anxiety, depression, and other mental health concerns. The fear of judgment or the dread of something terrible happening can weigh heavily on your mind. High standards, whether self-imposed or external, might feel impossible to meet, leaving you feeling overwhelmed. You don't have to face these challenges alone. Together, we can develop effective strategies to help you embrace life fully, fostering a sense of control and freedom. I specialize in supporting adults and teens, particularly those who identify as LGBTQIA+ or performing artists, who are feeling anxious, sad, and overwhelmed. My approach helps manage anxiety, depression, ADHD, insomnia, and OCD, offering thoughtful conversations and practical tools to get you back to living fully. Finding the right therapist can be daunting, but I'm here to make the process easier. Call me Michael, not "Doctor Jacobs." I consider my approach to be direct, warm and less formal. I want you to know that I'm human too, and we're in this together. Reach out today to see if we're a good fit and take the first step towards getting better.
