Therapists for college students near Temple University
Dr. Joshua McKinney, PsyD
I work well with students who are functioning on the outside and struggling underneath. You're turning things in, you're showing up, and nobody around you would guess how much effort that costs. The anxiety runs constantly in the background. Or you're stuck in loops, checking, redoing, needing something to feel right before you can move on, and you've never said it out loud to anyone because it sounds strange. I also see students who have reorganized their lives around avoiding one or more things: heights, a needle, a flight, an elevator, driving, insects, throwing up, speaking in front of people. It's manageable until it isn't, and then it starts costing you. And I work with students who have spent years wondering why school takes them so much longer than it seems to take everyone else. I do testing for ADHD and learning differences, which means an actual answer instead of another semester of guessing. Therapy is on video across Pennsylvania or in person in Wexford. Testing is in person. I'm currently accepting new students.
Dr. Dani Henderson
Most of the students I see come in with a question they've been carrying for years. Why does reading take you three times as long as it seems to take everyone else? Why can you focus for six hours on the thing you care about and not fifteen minutes on the thing that's due? Why did school get harder the moment nobody was structuring your day for you? I do psychological and psychoeducational testing, mostly for ADHD, Autism, Neurodivergence, and learning differences. It's a few sessions of structured tasks, not a quiz you can fail, and at the end you get a written report explaining how your brain actually works, plus recommendations you can take to your disability services office. For a lot of students the relief isn't the accommodations. It's finally having an explanation that isn't "you're not trying hard enough." I also see a smaller number of students for therapy, usually around anxiety, depression, perfectionism, and family expectations. Testing is done in person in Wexford. Initial intake and follow-up appointments can be done online if you are located in Pennsylvania. Therapy is on video across Pennsylvania or in person. I'm currently accepting new students.

Taylor Pastorius
I’m a Licensed Master Social Worker with more than seven years of experience supporting teens and young adults navigating anxiety, overthinking, relationship concerns, and major life transitions. Many of the people I work with come to therapy feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure of themselves, and are looking for a space where they can better understand who they are and how to move forward with more confidence and clarity. I strive to create a therapeutic space that feels warm, collaborative, and genuine. My approach integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and acceptance-based strategies, while tailoring each session to the unique needs and goals of the individual. I believe meaningful change happens when clients feel truly heard and understood. My connection to the mental health field began early in life. Growing up in a family where mental health was openly discussed shaped my understanding of how important it is to have a safe and supportive environment where people can fully be themselves without fear of judgment. I currently have immediate openings for individual therapy, both virtual and in-person in the South Hills area.

College can be an exciting and rewarding time, but it also comes with high expectations, stress, and many transitions along the way. From adjusting to campus life and building independence to navigating relationships, academics, and eventually entering the career world, each stage can bring its own challenges. When things feel overwhelming, talking with a therapist can provide support in exploring strategies to manage stress, build healthy boundaries, and navigate these transitions with greater confidence from both on campus and beyond.
Tracy Clarke
College comes with a lot to juggle, including classes, deadlines, relationships, and figuring out what comes next. If ADHD or OCD is making it harder to manage it all, therapy can help. As a therapist specializing in ADHD and OCD, I help college students better understand their patterns, build practical tools, and feel more confident navigating college life. I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), EMDR, and ERP, tailoring the therapeutic approach to best fit your needs, strengths, and goals. Together, we can find the tools and approach that work best for you and help you move toward the goals you want to achieve.
Barbara Lindsay Corbett
College life can bring a lot to manage, from academics and deadlines to balancing responsibilities and staying organized. As a therapist specializing in ADHD and executive functioning, I help college students develop practical skills and strategies to improve organization, time management, focus, and follow-through. I also work with anxiety, including a background in sports performance anxiety, helping students and athletes build confidence, manage pressure, and perform at their best.

Many of the people I work with are the ones everyone else assumes are doing just fine. You're successful, capable, and driven—but underneath the surface, you may be carrying anxiety, burnout, trauma, perfectionism, or ADHD. High-performance people often feel like they're constantly trying to keep up. Whether you're navigating the demands of academia, an intellectually challenging career, or family dynamics, therapy can be a place to slow down, reconnect with yourself, and find a different way forward. My approach is collaborative, curious, and grounded in evidence-based care. I integrate EMDR, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing, and neuroscience-informed interventions to help clients better understand the connection between their thoughts, emotions, nervous system, and behaviors. Together, we'll identify patterns that no longer serve you, strengthen emotional flexibility, and develop practical tools that support lasting change. Before becoming a therapist, I studied Applied Physics and Engineering and later conducted doctoral-level research in Computational and Integrative Biology. That background continues to shape my work today. I enjoy helping analytically-minded people make sense of complex internal experiences. I create a space that feels warm, genuine, and free from judgment. I believe healing happens when insight is paired with self-compassion and meaningful action.

The students I work with are usually managing more than they let on. Classes, work, money, family expectations, a relationship that is complicated, and a growing sense that everyone else got a manual they did not. A lot of them are anxious. Not always in the obvious way. Sometimes it looks like lying awake running through everything you said that day. Sometimes it looks like putting off an email for three weeks because opening it feels impossible. Sometimes it looks like doing fine on paper and feeling hollow about it. A lot of them are also in the middle of a decision. Whether to change majors. Whether to stay. What happens after graduation when the plan you had at eighteen stopped making sense. Those questions belong in therapy just as much as the anxiety does, and in my experience they are usually tangled together. You do not need to be in crisis to talk to someone. Wanting more support than you have right now is enough of a reason. I was the first person in my family to go to college. I did it without anyone who could tell me how it worked, and I figured out fairly late that asking for help earlier would have saved me a lot. That is part of why I do this work.
Joyce Atkins
Hey there! I’m Joyce Atkins, MS, RDN, LDN, a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist with more than 18 years of experience supporting children, adults, and families in clinical, community, and telehealth settings. I specialize in type 2 diabetes, prediabetes, heart health, kidney health, and nutrition support for people taking GLP-1 medications. I also have extensive experience with family nutrition and supporting people managing multiple or complex health conditions. My approach is warm, practical, and judgment free. I believe every person has a unique nutrition story, and I take time to understand your health, culture, family traditions, food preferences, resources, daily responsibilities, and relationship with food. I combine evidence-based medical nutrition therapy with realistic strategies that can fit into your everyday life. During our sessions, I’ll help you make sense of confusing nutrition information, recognize your strengths, and find practical ways to support your health without making food feel more complicated than it needs to be. Whether you’re working on blood sugar, cholesterol, blood pressure, heart or kidney health, or navigating nutrition while taking a GLP-1 medication, we’ll create realistic goals that feel manageable and sustainable. As a Filipina American dietitian, I’m passionate about providing culturally responsive care and creating a space where people feel safe, seen, heard, respected, and included in their nutrition care. I welcome people from diverse cultures, identities, families, and life experiences, including women across life stages, LGBTQ+ people, transgender and nonbinary individuals, service members, veterans, and military families. I also understand that access to nutritious food and healthcare can be shaped by financial, insurance, and other barriers, and I strive to make nutrition recommendations practical and accessible. My Ideal Client My ideal client is looking for support navigating a health condition without feeling overwhelmed by nutrition advice. Together, we’ll focus on what matters most to you and create practical strategies that fit your health needs, preferences, culture, and everyday life. My goal is to help you feel more confident and supported as you make changes that can last. More About Me When I’m not working with clients, I love spending time with my young son and large extended family. I enjoy singing, dancing, strength training, creative activities, volunteering, and participating in community events such as local 5Ks and food-bank outreach. What to Expect in Our Sessions Our sessions are designed to be supportive, collaborative, and practical. You’ll have space to ask questions, talk through your concerns, and better understand how nutrition connects to your health. I’ll provide evidence-based education, personalized recommendations, and realistic strategies that take your lifestyle and circumstances into account. My goal is for you to leave each session with greater clarity, confidence, and a few concrete steps you can actually use in your day-to-day life. We’ll focus on progress rather than perfection and take things one sustainable step at a time. I’m looking forward to working with you and helping you feel more confident in your nutrition and health! Ready to start? Book a visit directly at https://diabetesdigital.co/start.
Adam Oshnock
Hello! I am Adam Oshnock, a Licensed Professional and Nationally Certified Counselor located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania who is currently accepting new clients with flexible scheduling. I started my work in the mental health field in 2001 and received my license in 2007. I have worked with all populations from age 6 on, but have specialized experience in working with children, adolescents, and families (including marital and divorce). I have additional specialized training for individuals who have experienced trauma and I am certified as a Clinical Trauma Professional Level 2. I am a Certified Clinical Telemental Health professional for those that prefer virtual appointments. I have significant experience in working with athletes at all levels to improve their mental approach to the sport. The first session is always one where an evaluation occurs to determine if therapy is recommended. It is also important during that time that the client identifies that I am a good fit for treatment. The safe and supportive space of the therapeutic relationship is critical to treatment progress. After the assessment we would develop a plan of care and individualized goals. This includes determining individualized interventions for the treatment goals. It is important that we focus on today, learn from our past, and prepare for the future. If you think I might be a good fit for your therapeutic needs I look forward to hearing from you.

Eve Buck
My name is Eve Buck (she/her/hers), and I am a licensed Mental Health Counselor. I work with individuals and couples living in New York and Pennsylvania at my virtual practice. I completed my master’s degree in mental health counseling from Teachers College, Columbia University. My previous training includes working with undergraduate and graduate students at the Fordham University counseling center, as well as community practices where I have worked with culturally diverse clients from all walks of life. I particularly enjoy working with young adults and senior adults and have specialized training in therapy for people who identify as Latinx. It is through the experiences and lessons I have learned along my work and personal journeys that I hope to support your path toward overcoming your personal struggles and finding greater fulfillment. I pride myself on utilizing a multicultural approach to therapy while bringing in teachings and principles of multiple disciplines, drawing mainly from psychodynamic therapy among other evidence-based practices. It is this multidisciplinary approach that I believe best serves clients, allowing space for present-minded problem solving as well as exploration into a client’s past, relationships, and emotional experience. Our work together can be tailored based on your life story and experiences and what you hope to gain from therapy. Everyone’s therapy journey is different. Whether it’s working through trauma or beginning a path towards better self-understanding, I strive to provide an open, non-judgmental, and productive space where people can find relief from distressing symptoms as well as develop a stronger sense of self through insight and reflection. Just like each person is unique, each treatment is different and adapted to who you are and what you need. I recognize the wide breadth of human experience and I bring this knowledge with me to best meet your needs. Life can be difficult and confusing, but as your therapist I will be there to empathize with and support you through it.

Feeling disconnected, overwhelmed, or curious? Whether working through a new adjustment or struggling with communication, I offer a safe, inclusive space where you can feel heard, supported, and empowered. I am especially drawn to working with individuals, couples, and families navigating through life transitions, those in the LGBTQIA+ community, and those searching for a unique approach to this journey at their own pace. As a queer woman and Philadelphia local I bring lived experience and understanding, emphasizing a nonjudgmental stance as we navigate through this therapeutic journey I emphasize a systems-based approach, highlighting the importance of patterns and interconnections of relationships. I also work through an intersectional framework, understanding the unique interactions of identities that shape individual experience. Illuminated Pathways Therapy | Katrina Carroll-Haskins
I support students who are used to holding it together for everyone else—but privately struggle with anxiety, burnout, perfectionism, trauma, or feeling disconnected from themselves and others. You might overthink everything, avoid asking for help, or feel exhausted by the pressure to perform academically and socially. My practice offers a warm, steady space to slow down, make sense of what you’re carrying, and build real coping skills—not just quick fixes. I provide trauma-informed therapy using EMDR, partswork, art therapy, and somatic/body-based approaches that help you understand how stress and past experiences affect your body, emotions, and relationships so you can feel more grounded and confident. I accept funding through VCAP (Victim Compensation Assistance Program) which helps cover the cost of 6-12 months of therapy for sexual assault survivors in Pennsylvania (no need to have ever reported assault in order to be eligible to apply). I’m especially drawn to working with LGBTQ+ and neurodivergent clients, as well as those navigating belonging, intersecting identities, and spiritual shame. Our work will move at your pace and center the questions that matter most to you. I’ll walk alongside you as we untangle confusion and constraints to foster greater connection, clarity, and choice. You’re the expert on your experience. My job is to help create space for your voice and to support you in honoring what it has to say. Maybe you’re feeling overwhelmed by classes, work, or family expectations. Anxious about the future. Stuck in relationship patterns that keep hurting, or questioning who you are and where you’re headed. Perhaps you’re navigating trauma, a painful breakup or betrayal, loneliness, identity questions, academic pressure, or a major life transition. You might look like you’re holding it together on the outside, while inside you feel disconnected, exhausted, or never quite enough. You may long to feel more grounded, confident, connected, and understood. If any of this feels familiar, you’re not alone, and you don’t have to figure it out by yourself. My therapy practice offers a calm, compassionate space where college students and young adults can slow down, feel seen, and make sense of what they’re going through. I work with individuals and couples who are hurting and ready for change, whether that means healing from past experiences, strengthening relationships, or reconnecting with themselves. Together, we’ll explore the parts of your story that feel tender or confusing and work toward greater clarity, self-compassion, and meaningful growth.
