Therapists for college students near Ann Arbor, MI
Cassie operates out of a trauma informed lens. Additionally, she utilizes a person-centered, strengths-based, and cognitive behavioral theoretical orientation. Cassie is a trained EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) clinician and practices DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy) informed treatment. Cassie believes there is not one technique that works for all individuals; therefore, the core of her professional work begins with creating a healthy therapeutic alliance. She is part of a multi-cultural family and values working with individuals from diverse backgrounds. She believes when individuals can understand and respect each other, a foundation exists where sharing, processing, and healing can take place. Cassie offers telehealth sessions to individuals in Michigan and in-person sessions in Lansing (about 5 minutes from MSU's campus).
I am here for you. I was a college professor and counselor for 10 years. I have been a mental health therapist for about 20 years. I also have been a successful ADHDer! I love people and college students. I can support you in your mental health, how to learn and be academically successful on campus and figure next steps after college. My best strengths as a human are being authentic, funny and culturally beautiful. I hope to meet you soon, for now, sending good vibes :)

Today's world is too often scary and overwhelming. For many of us, learning to function & adapt in life as a child, teen or young adult is confusing & difficult. You will begin to experience a life where being you is more than good enough. Unavoidable challenges become opportunities & you gain control of the most important area, yourself. Working together, you will become equipped to navigate day to day life & the unexpected, emerging stronger, smarter & happier. I am passionate about helping children, teens & young adults understand their emotions through play therapy & cognitive behavior therapy, within a family systems approach. Welcome! I’m so glad we’ve crossed paths. My name is Hayley, and my pronouns are she/her/hers. I have my master's degree in social work (LLMSW) from Grand Valley State University, where I also received my bachelor's degree in social work (BSW). Because everyone’s journey is unique, I will meet you where you're at and walk alongside you to provide the support you seek and deserve. My therapeutic style is warm, validating, supportive, empowering, and person-centered. I truly believe that having a safe and validating space to share our truth is so healing. The approaches I may implement in practice are elements of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, humanistic/client-centered, and strengths based. I specialize in anxiety, stress management, life transitions, LGBTQIA+, women’s issues, individuals involved in the justice system, pet end of life planning, and pet grief/loss. When I’m out of the office I find joy in spending time with my 5 cats. They are all rescues with unique stories and goofy personalities. I also have two chinchillas, and a general love for rodents. I believe animals are so healing. I know mine have saved me and brought me peace in so many ways. I also find joy in listening to my vinyl collection, watercolor painting, and looking for rocks and fossils along the shores of Lake Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. Thank you for being here! I look forward to creating a validating therapeutic space for you that is accepting, healing, and empowering.
I have many years of experience working with teenagers. I specifically enjoy working with teens who experience anxiety. As a previous college student, I look forward to providing you with support and tools to get through these difficult times in life!
Although we have little control over the hand that life deals us, I believe in the hope that it is never too late to heal, to learn new and more effective behaviors…to create the life that you have always dreamed of living. What does it take to get there? What is holding you back? Those answers lie within each one of us. I enjoy creating an alliance with my clients, to be a guide in their own journey of self-discovery, empowerment, and acceptance. I believe in creating an environment that balances just the right amount of acceptance and change; one that is safe, nonjudgmental, and validating. I look forward to joining with you, exactly where you are, in your life journey. I have worked at Therapy Today since March 2012, and have worked in the mental health field for 25 years providing treatment services in private practice, schools, and in social service agencies, notably Community Mental Health of Clinton, Eaton, and Ingham Counties. I have provided case management and individual and group therapy to adults with serious and persistent mental illness. I have supervised a multidisciplinary case management team of more than 20 clinical and support staff, and provided specialty supervision to staff on the comprehensive Dialectical Behavioral Treatment team. I have worked with co-occurring disorders to maintain compliance with state standards for evidence-based practices, coordinated outpatient services for those discharging from psychiatric facilities, and provided re-entry services for returning citizens who are paroling from prison.

Everyone faces seasons in their lives where it feels like they’re on a spinning wheel. Round and round and round you go, too afraid to get off or try something different, too stuck in old patterns or routines, lacking the skills or support to take the leap. You’re here because you want something different, something more, something better for your life. I’m a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Certified Life Coach with almost twenty years of experience in the field. Since starting my own private practice in 2020, I have primarily worked with women in adolescence through adulthood, focusing on life transitions, relationships, divorce, parenting, trauma, grief, and self-worth. As an integrative systems therapist, I understand that the systems we’re a part of, including our families of origin, communities and social networks, country, the world, and the planet, have profound impacts on us individually. I utilize a blend of modalities that meet each client where they’re at, including mindfulness, visualization, and writing. I have been EMDR-trained since 2021. I’m currently accepting clients on a limited basis beginning in September 2026. Email me to secure your spot. I look forward to meeting you.

My path started by working in alternative high schools, and then as a career counselor in management and business development roles for a few universities and military populations. I have over 18 years of experience working in education, career development, and mental health. My experience growing up in Flint, Michigan, and being the first in my family to attend college, shaped how I view and overcome challenges. I specialize in support for working professionals, especially teachers, nurses, and students with anxiety or depression who are struggling in their careers, education, or relationships. Many feel stuck, burnt out, angry, and overwhelmed. Chronic stress makes it hard for them to connect with their instructors, bosses, and peers. Time management is an issue and constantly trying to keep up. Some may prefer to be alone, even though it leads to ruminating over traumatic work experiences and substance use. My clients have demanding jobs and/or class schedules, and are highly trained and accustomed to solving problems. However, no one is immune to the long-term effects of stress and trauma. I have over 18 years working in counseling, higher education, and career development. My communication style is warm, yet solution-focused, often encouraging you to think from the end, build your resilience, and focus on the future. Some clients get what they need to make a positive change in 6-8 sessions. Others enjoy my long-term support to address trauma. First time trying talk therapy? Congrats on taking the first step. I value confidentiality and understand the college campus and workplace cultures. You do not have to go through this alone. Let's get you out of survival mode and start to thrive. Reach out to schedule your complimentary 15-minute consultation today. I look forward to talking with you.

Whether you're navigating personal challenges, supporting your child through a difficult transition, or seeking stronger family connections, you don't have to figure it out alone. With a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology and over a decade of specialized experience across school, residential, and outpatient settings, I help clients of all ages build resilience and practical strategies for lasting change. Together, we’ll turn complex emotional and behavioral challenges into clear paths forward.
I have worked with clients from many different backgrounds across the lifespan who are suffering, lost, or just looking for a place to talk. Most commonly, I have worked with people who are struggling with anxiety, depression, OCD, family struggles, relationship stress, and life transitions. As a therapist, I take an approach that is individualized and client-centered. I develop a treatment plan collaboratively with my clients based on their expertise of their own lives. I draw my interventions from behavioral approaches and frequently incorporate self-compassion work with clients. Through my undergraduate and graduate studies, I learned a lot about human behavior. Through my clinical experience and in my own journey, I learned a lot about healing. I am so grateful to serve others through this work every day.
