I provide therapy that’s rooted in cultural humility. I believe trust grows when we honor the full spectrum of your identity—race, gender, work environments, religious affiliation, family, and beyond. I’m interested in the “why” behind things. Many of our thoughts, feelings, and reactions make sense when we look at earlier experiences or relationships. In therapy, we gently explore those patterns—how they show up now, and whether they’re helping or holding you back. I work in partnership with you. We’ll determine your course of treatment together. I believe the most lasting change happens when your voice is central to the process.
Life often comes at you from many angles, and sometimes the weight of change, anxiety, or difficult memories can make it hard to feel like yourself. With more than six years of experience as a licensed mental health counselor, my work is built around helping adolescents and adults navigate life's transitions, work through relationship issues, find balance, and reconnect with who they know themselves to be. Specializing in life adjustments that have often been created from feelings of anxiety and even potential traumatic experiences/memories, I understand how deeply personal and layered these experiences can be. Whether you're processing a major shift or working through something that has lingered for years, you deserve care that meets you where you are. My commitment to you goes beyond the session: I am dedicated to consistently evolving and growing with you each step of the way, while also focusing on continuing education to recognize and treat the various personal and life stressors taking place in the world around us. In our work together, the focus is entirely on you, because what you're experiencing, and related symptoms, deserve to be treated. Using evidence-based modalities, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, and psychodynamic therapy, we'll move toward self-healing in a way that feels grounded and sustainable. Support, motivation, and accountability are at the heart of how I practice. You can also expect therapeutic homework from time to time, with real-world opportunities to practice the skills we explore in session. Bringing those tools into your daily life is, I believe, one of the most powerful ways to set the tone and get us back to where we want to be. My path to becoming a therapist, much like life itself, has not always been linear and clear. Growing up in a divorced household, change and adjustment were constants. It was through my own experience in therapy that I discovered something remarkable: healing is genuinely possible, and with the right support, so is transformation. That discovery became the foundation of my practice. What was given to me through that work is exactly what I want to offer you. Change is achievable, on any level, and you don't have to find your way there alone. When I'm not in session, you'll likely find me cheering on a favorite team, getting lost in a psychological thriller, or spending time with family.
I'm here to be a support and safe place as you face a time of many life transitions. I often mix a little bit of humor and gentle accountability into sessions. My clients are often seeking support to navigate relationships, identity, and future goals. My multi-state licensure allows for continuity of care even when students are moving between multiple states. Schedule a free consultation on my website today! http://www.calliazimmerman.com/contact

A bit more about my approach to therapy: My approach is down-to-earth, encouraging, and guided foremost by the client. The #1 adage leading my practice is “start where the client is”. I listen carefully, reflect for clarity, and help clients to articulate deeper understanding of themselves. Individuals questioning their sexual identity, LGBTQ, and BIPOC clients will be supported and affirmed. Creative types are welcomed: use of creativity is an unlimited source of healing potential. "Begin. The rest is easy." - George Jenkins What you can expect from our first session: Every individual deserves to find a meaningful sense of purpose, direction, and belonging. After our first session together, I hope for you to feel seen, understood, and supported upon a path of increasing possibility; my hope is that you will feel more capable in the moment of managing what life has waiting for you next.

If you're feeling overwhelmed, anxious and unsure you can explore these feelings in therapy with me. I offer my clients a safe and nonjudgmental space where we collaborate on reaching their goals together. I practice using cognitive behavioral therapy where we can examine the relationship between your thoughts, feelings and actions and make changes so that you feel more like yourself again.
I work collaboratively with clients to gain an understanding of current problems, how they may have developed, and ways to make meaningful changes both internally and in one’s relationships. This might include skills based techniques such as mindfulness and cognitive behavioral therapy, facing difficult emotions in a safe environment to gain a greater sense of control and acceptance around them, or understanding how past experiences may influence current emotional reactions. I specialize in improving relationship functioning and working with couples. I start a couples counseling session with an assessment which provides a detailed account of the strengths and challenges in a relationship. From there we work together to help each partner feel heard and understood so that those challenges can be addressed. If you are interested in individual or couples counseling, I'm happy to answer any questions you may have over the phone or via email. I'm a zen practicing therapist+musician who loves working with people on their journeys to healthier relationships and becoming their most authentic selves. I was raised fundamentalist and spent my childhood learning fire and brimstone theology and memorizing verses from the King James Bible. Needless to say I chose to leave the "sinners in the hands of an angry God" mentality behind when I grew up. The truth is, being hard on ourselves doesn't help us or anyone else. But compassion, love, acceptance and presence connect us to who we really are, and who we can become. Along the journey, I've played a lot of music (with friends, in bands) and become a therapist. I wrote an album while in grad school and took a year off after grad school to play shows and work at a record store. I believe it's OK to have multiple passions, to want to do a lot of things, to use your voice, and to take your time figuring it all out. In our work together, I want to help you tap into your own creativity and inner wisdom while also drawing from evidence-based modalities to help you live a purposeful life, deepen your relationships, and reach your goals as a couple or as an individual. LGBTQI affirming. Puedo hablar contigo un poco de español, pero no puedo hablar con fluencia.
Are you or your child struggling to navigate life transitions, grappling with stress, confronting depression, handling anxiety, dealing with trauma, and or fighting addiction? Do these challenges significantly impact your relationships, career, and everyday life? Rest assured, I'm committed to providing support and guiding you toward realizing that hope is not just conceivable, but attainable. My practice is grounded in evidence-based, trauma-informed therapies, with an emphasis on EMDR, DBT, and CBT techniques. Together, we will examine and address the underlying causes of your distress, facilitating profound healing and personal growth. As a trauma healing therapist, I help clients heal from shame, fear, and confusion to develop a better relationship with themselves and with others. Trained in EMDR, I support individuals in managing trauma symptoms, including Complex PTSD. I employ mindfulness to teach self-regulation of emotions and to cultivate intimacy with oneself.
Parenting is one of the most meaningful things a person can do, and one of the most overwhelming. As a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC), I work with children, adolescents, and adults navigating anxiety, depression, ADHD, behavioral concerns, and mood disorders. As a mother of five, I know firsthand that raising children can be both deeply rewarding and incredibly hard. That lived experience shapes how I show up for the families I work with. You won't be handed a clinical framework; you'll be met with genuine empathy from someone who understands what it feels like to navigate difficult moments. I care deeply about the best interest of each child while also recognizing the important role parents play, which is why we work together on improving emotional well-being, building confidence, and empowering young people to thrive. I believe in the resilience of children and in the power of the parent-child relationship, and am here to help you strengthen both. I look forward to walking alongside you with empathy, respect, and understanding as your steady and supportive partner through even the most difficult moments. Every child deserves to feel understood, valued, and supported. That belief is at the heart of everything I do, and it's what drives me to show up fully for every patient and family I work with. Lasting change, in my experience, happens when families are treated as partners in care, which is why my approach is collaborative and family-centered by design. I use evidence-based medication management alongside supportive therapeutic techniques to help children and adolescents improve emotional regulation, reduce symptoms, and build resilience and confidence over time. Each patient is different, and I tailor my approach to fit the individual's needs, circumstances, and goals. Whether we're addressing anxiety, ADHD, mood instability, or behavioral concerns, the environment you'll find here is safe, nonjudgmental, and built on trust. My path to psychiatric mental health grew out of years of caring for patients and families as a registered nurse specializing in oncology medicine. In this work, I witnessed how deeply mental health impacts not only the individual but the entire family system. Becoming a mother of five made my calling even more personal. Watching my own children develop — navigating communication, resilience, and big emotions — gave me a new lens for understanding what families truly need. It reinforced my commitment to care that is grounded, evidence-based, and compassionate, with a strong focus on understanding the child’s needs and the parent’s experience. That combination of clinical foundation and lived family experience is what I bring into every session. You'll find someone who has both studied this work and lived it. Outside of my clinical work, I value spending time with my family and enjoying life outdoors. I love traveling with my family in our RV, camping, hiking, walking, and if I can ever find the time, riding horses. These experiences keep me grounded and reflect my belief in balance, connection, and the importance of mental wellness and everyday life.
Each person has a unique experience and healing requires an individualized plan. Healing occurs through a combination of multiple different sources. Therapy can be one tool that can aid in growth that can alleviate suffering. Therapy can be both challenging and rewarding. I believe that a critical component of therapy is a trusting relationship with compassion, feeling heard and seen. Working with someone who you trust to hear your experience and challenge you in positive ways. I care about forming a warm empathetic relationship with my clients and I am present with them as they are going through their own process.
Thoughts and emotions can be so powerful, but they can lead us to feeling stuck, lost, confused, dread, or even exhausted. We become so worked up that we might not know how to manage. We tend to isolate, panic, feel unseen, feel unheard, and become irritated because we don’t have the words. Clients will get to meet their present selves by exploring multiple aspects of their lives such as relationships with others and themselves, inner dialogue, communication, anxiety, depression, and more.As a therapist, I aim to create a space where clients have the opportunity to be vulnerable, grow, and feel empowered while working toward their goals and developing new skill sets. I offer a compassionate, creative, and individualized approach that is collaborative and non-judgmental. Together we will develop a deeper understanding of emotions, somatic symptoms, inner dialogue, boundaries, and how we view ourselves in order to improve our quality of life.
