As a clinical psychologist, I specialize in work with depression, difficulties relating to trauma and anxiety, and with gender identity and sexuality. My goal is to help you to feel less suffering and to experience a more fulfilling life. A good experience in therapy involves both psychologist and patient. Together, we'll focus on the impacts of low mood, anxiety, low self esteem, or whatever is getting in the way of your lifeāand how to help you to overcome these obstacles. I have experience working with adolescents and adults who are struggling with a variety of concerns, as well as with those who are GNC or queer. In my clinical work, I use evidence-based practices for conditions such as major depressive disorder, social anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), or posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). In my academic role at Bard College, I study and teach on the impacts of mood disorders, trauma, and depressive thought. (I do not usually see current Bard College students who may take psychology classes.)

Life transitions can bring a mix of emotions - excitement, confusion, stress, and more. Between classes, relationships, identity shifts, and figuring out your future, it's a lot to take on. It is totally normal to experience all of the emotions at once, which can be difficult to understand and navigate. Our work together will focus on what matters most to you. This is your space to be supported and heard.

I help people learn how to take care of themselves. āā ā In our sessions, you will develop the skills to navigate family dynamics, understand your needs, communicate boundaries, and build self-trust and self-esteem. ā So, whether you identify as a conflict avoider, people pleaser, overachiever, perfectionist, or anxious attacher, I can help you figure out who you are, what you want, and who you want to be.
I approach each individual with curiosity & acceptance. I see my clients as the real experts on themselves- each in the process of navigating the world & learning as they go. I'm actively non-judgmental & find it most therapeutic to provide clients with a safe context in which to explore thoughts & feelings, gain insight, & problem solve in a lasting & empowering manner. I actively listen & offer feedback, reflection, levity, education &, depending upon the issue at hand, more directive advice. The needs of each client naturally vary. I believe it is important to meet people where they are, rather than to apply a specific modality or approach. One of my guiding principles is to "Assume Nothing." I find this allows a clients most pressing needs to unfold more naturally. One of my specialty areas is the human-animal bond. Companion animals play an important role in our individual lives and as members of the family. Issues that can be a focus of treatment: loss of a pet, pets and divorce, children and pets, illness of a pet, emotional support animals, animal advocacy.

I believe that students are better able to explore aspects of their lives that may be difficult or painful when they feel heard and validated. This enables students to gain insights and examine opportunities for self-compassion, understanding, acceptance, growth, and change. I can provide support with anxiety, social anxiety, relationship issues, perfectionism, and a variety of other issues students experience. I have advanced training in Internal Family Systems (IFS) Bowen Family Systems Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), and Yoga. I love supporting college students and have been doing so for the past 15 years. I spent much of that time providing therapy in New York City, before returning to my home town of Fairfield, CT to continue my practice. In addition to in person appointments, I continue to provide telehealth sessions for any students located in CT or NY. I also have experience with this age group in schools, medical and psychiatric hospital settings and in the classroom while teaching at the Silberman School of Social Work at Hunter College. I truly enjoy working with my clients and draw upon my own experience and their inherent strengths to achieve change in a welcoming and nonjudgmental environment. ā

College can intensify pressure to succeed, make the ārightā choices, and hold it all together, often alongside anxiety, perfectionism, people pleasing, relationship issues, or concerns about food, body image, or control. I work with college students and young adults who appear high-functioning on the outside but feel overwhelmed, disconnected, or unsure of themselves on the inside. Together, we slow things down, identify patterns that keep you stuck, and build insight and skills that support real, lasting change. My approach is collaborative, thoughtful, and tailored to you as a whole person, not a set of symptoms. I hold the CEDS-C credential, the highest certification in eating disorder treatment, and support students whose anxiety or perfectionism shows up around food, body image, or self-worth. Therapy can be a space to pause, feel understood, and reconnect with what matters most, without having to pretend youāre fine or push through alone.
